Hey all,

I work shifts and next week will be working until 10pm, when i get home around 10.30pm i feel quite hungry, not so much as i want a meal but snacking, any recommendations for something to take the edge of hunger so close to bed time?

Can you eat something before 10pm? snack earlier and when you get home have a glass of water or maybe an apple for the fiber.

Nothing wrong with eating late at night as long as a) it fits your calorie/nutrient targets and b) you're able to tolerate it and sleep well. Now if you're topped off as far as calories go by that time, I'd agree with the suggestion of basing that snack on protein and maybe some water-voluminous food like fibrous veggies or an apple or whatever.

I love those prepackaged smoked salmon packs or a good tasting protein powder with an apple as a quick snack / filler.

  • Do you like peanut butter? cottage cheese? cereal? turkey and cheese? Those can be good choices. The food diary will help you undrestand which snacks to choose to help complete your dietary needs. I use it all the time to detrmine if i my late night snack has high protien, low sugar, low sodium etc. It is a good guide to understanding which types of choices you should make at the and of the day.
