Blending and smoothies

Would anyone recommend maybe replacing lunch or breakfast with a smoothie a few times a week to aid weightloss? I'm considering weather to do this as obviously it's a liquid so it would be easier to digest. If I made a smoothue well balanced nutrition wise do you think this would aid in weight loss?
