  • Can someone tell me, as an ignorant English girl, what Labor Day is for? Thanks!
  • Maggie1960--Its the first Monday of September reserved as a holiday for the working man/woman. Google for more info lol
  • Labor Day is a Holiday celebrated in the United States to honor the labor movement. President Grover Cleveland declared it a Federal Holiday in the 1800's after a lot of miners were killed due to poor working conditions. In the United States, it is the end of summer holiday. A three day weekend. Summer kicks off with Memorial Day weekend which occurs at the end of May and ends with Labor Day weekend at the beginning of September. I hope this helps.
