How many of you count housework as exercise or when you don't meet your daily 'calorie expenditure' goal, calculate in some clandestine numbers just to round out the numbers?

Nope. I don't count house work, playing at the park with my kids, or anything like that. I only count intentional exercise.0

I log it if it's hard housework.
Like, I don't log wiping down my stove and counters and stuff at the end of the day...
...but I do log when I spend an hour sweeping, mopping, moving boxes, scrubbing walls, etc.
Basically, if I feel like I worked out then I log it but if not I don't. I think shoving my couch around the room and such qualifies.0 -
It's activity not exercise but depends on what u have ur activity level set to for whether u should log it or not0
-
If I was going to wash all my walls by hand for 4 hours yes I would count it... Otherwise no.0

Only on MyFitnessPal have I seen people consider cleaning and food preparation to be "exercise."0

Don't count it.
If you start losing weight too fast, then start counting it.0 -
Nope...0

If you're heart rate is nice and high and you're sweating then..... maybe but I never count that as exercise.0

HaHa! Really.0 -
It would not be for me.0

No. Anyone with a FitBit will tell you that sedentary on MFP is not true sedentary and does already include usual everyday activity.0

Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: cleaning exercise) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

No, I never count it.0 -

HELLNO! Sorry for the caps but good god this drives me nuts when ppl log cleaning as exercise. If you didn't jump on a treadmill and have an accelerated heart rate from working out then you aren't really burning any cals. Get a hrm and put it on and you'll see you barely burn anything. Others may disagree with me but its not exercise. Sorry0
-
I wouldn't count it unless I was doing a lot of yard work, washing cars, etc. To me, I have to laugh when I see people logging anything that is basically them off the couch. If you mark your activity level as moderate or light, it should already account for some of this.0
-
nope, it's not!0

What gives anyone the right to laugh at someone putting housework down? I am not a neat and tidy person so when I actually get to cleaning-cleaning I count it. It is not part of my usual routine. The normal stuff that is, I don't count.0

Exercise, examples: Walking (and not to and from the kitchen) biking, swimming, tennis, weights, rollerblading, jump-roping, etc.
NOT exercise, examples: Washing dishes, folding underwear, chopping onions, boiling a pan of water, putting 3 pairs of socks into a dresser drawer, walking down aisle 5 at Wal-mart while pushing a cart.
so ...... :glasses:0 -
No, I never would count housework.0
