Curious and a bit Irritated-Need tips

Sooo when I was at school, I was able to control what I could eat. But while I'm at home and on break and all that, I pretty much need to eat what is in the house. Annnd my family doesn't have a whole lot of money which means we can't really afford "the good stuff." It's annoying. But anyways~
I am ALWAYS looking for new ways to work out because I get bored sooo easily. When I look up tips, they're all the same. And I look at peoples success stories and they don't really go into detail about how they got in shape. It's always simply, "I just ate right and exercised." Okay, but what exactly did you do?
Well, I just wanna hear some tips or some exercise routines that worked for you. To give you some info on what I have access to:
-I live in a second-floor apartment which means I can't do my exercise videos I really enjoyed.
-There is a pool
-The gym has a treadmill, free weights, elliptical, lat pulldown and the thing attached to it that you can pull back if you lean back, leg extension machine, bicep curl, butterfly machine thing, and an exercise bike
-I live by a park
-I own a bike
Also I am a girl. I'm 19. I'm 5'2. And I tend to stop running not because I'm tired, but because I have injuries from soccer (knees will start tweaking sometimes. My shins hurt. My feet feel like they're on fire. Stuff like that.) It'd be cool if I got some tips for that too.

Walk as fast as you can on the treadmill, run a bit and walk, use the elliptical, use whatever you have available. There's lots of free weight routines online. Look them up.
That said 90% of your weight loss will come from your diet. Set a budget and stick to it. Weigh, measure and log every bite. You don't have to have money to buy special food, just eat less if it's something more calorie dense. You have to use portion control to stay in budget.
From reading through your past posts there's a lot of excuses. If you really want to get the weight off you have to be honest with yourself and do the work. There's no magic to it. It's work, it takes time and you have to be committed. When you're ready to do this, it will happen.0 -

I use the Leslie sansone walk away the pounds videos. I get them on YouTube. There's no jumping etc. so they won't be annoying to your downstairs neighbors. Also, you can ask other people about their exercise routines all you want but if you're eating an excess of calories you're never going to lose the weight no matter the routine.0

Also~There seems to be a misunderstanding here.
I am aware that I need to keep track of what I eat and the amount and everything. The beginning was just a little rant. I rant a lot and people seemed to take that as me not trying or something :P But I'm just seriously just ranting away because exercising and all that is a necessary evil. Bleh.
I was just basically saying I wish I had some really delicious good food that I can eat small portions of and stay full and energized. I find that the crappy processed and boxed food just makes me want to snack more and I don't stay full for long. I haven't logged onto MFP for awhile, but I'm always checking the back of boxes and making sure I don't go crazy with my calories (although sometimes honestly I break down and I just want a little more.) BUT~ I got a new job so hopefully now I can just get my own groceries even though I'd rather save up that money for when I move out and go back to school. See. There I go ranting again. I'm not trying to make-up excuses. I'm just irritable. That's my life :P
BUT YEAH. Imma check out that walking thing.0 -
Jog or walk in the pool. In little tiny hotel pools I swim in circles and tread water. It does awesome things for your muscles and how you look.
Jump rope outside (where no one is looking). Clothesline is fine.

Good luck finding good food. When we were really broke, we ate better, because it was all beans and veggies. That's hard if your family doesn't cook that way. Best food for me is cashews and nuts. They're expensive by the pound but I eat them 3 at a time. Figs too. One at a time.0 -
sign up for a tri and then start training swim/bike/run By the end of 8-12 weeks you'll be in shape and you'll utalize all the stuff you have access to

Okay, about the food... eat what is available and be sure to adjust your portions to fit your allotted calories or go buy and start cooking yourself. My hubby is the cook at home (even though I am an excellent cook myself) and he tends to cook excellent and high quality food but a lot of it has high fat and calories. I just cut the amount that I eat if something is high in calories, eat more of the veggies, and I drink lots of water.
As for the exercise, I simply walk 8.5 km each day which takes me about an hour and half. My friend and I used to do 10 km each day at a much faster pace but now she has a torn meniscus and we can't go as fast nor as far. Still it uses up calories and works for me. The other thing that I started three months ago is a Pilates class twice a week and before you think it is a stretching class, let me tell you that I am darn sore and tired after one of this instructor's class. She was told it was more of a Pilates bootcamp. LOL
Anyhow, the other thing is patience. I am down 52 lbs but that has taken me 4 years with a few ups and downs. Yes, four years is a long time but I am steadily getting there, my skin is shrinking nicely and I am back to the weight I was in my mid twenties. By the way, I am in my mid 50s. It took many many years to gain the weight so it is going to take time for it to come off. My doctor told me that by losing it this way, the chances of it coming back on are reduced. I have no intention of ever going back to 190 which is a fair bit for someone who is 5'5".

Yay! This looks cool.
I actually really enjoy nuts. It's annoying that they are pricey. But they do keep me pretty full. Almonds especially. Omg. But they are so good. I'll just have to make that investment I suppose.
I'm totes going to go try out that link.
And I tried running in the pool and I just felt like, "Wait, am I doing this right? I feel weird." I figure if I do it more often I'mma nail it down. It's perfect swimming weather here!0 -
Pilates always did sound nice. If I get enough $$$ I'll try lookin for classes. But hey. Maybe I can find pilates videos?
I totally believe you though. I actually took yoga for college credit and it was ammazzzing. I was actually able to do push ups for once. Haha. And it was so relaxing. All the tension in my body would go away and I felt stronger too.

Depends what the free weights are. I started lifting with Stronglifts 5x5, and have progressed to Jim Wendler's 5/3/1. Sticking to a specific lifting program will probably give you the best results. I had terrible knees until I started squatting regularly.0

if you have a smartphone, try the C25K app. i freeking love it. i never enjoyed running but i love it and it takes a huge chunk of calories out of my goal0

Ooh, squats. Two things I hate are push-ups and squats. But I guess you gotta work hard for the booty. Am I right? It sure would be nice to not have knee pain anymore though.0 -
