Maintenance question

I'm curious how many of you out there are in maintenance mode and what you do to keep yourself accountable. Has your exercise routine changed? Do you still log the same? Do you find yourself weighing yourself with the same frequency? Have you loosened up what foods, etc you allow yourself to eat?

If you respond, please answer my questions by referencing how you did it when you were in weight loss mode vs how you do it now in maintenance mode. I'm also curious how long you have been in maintenance mode and how much weight you lost.

In maintenance a good 8 years now. Went from 132-ish down to 102 pounds, then 4-5 years ago gained up to 110-112 pounds where I am now. Less body fat, more muscle.

I do it the same way I lost the weight, I track my calories (85% of the time but a lot of it is second nature anyway), and exercise 4-5 times a week.

I definitely have a better exercise routine now than I did when I lost the weight, I pretty much only lift weights now.

I also eat a heck of a lot more now than I did back then. I learned the hard way that skinny and starved isn't the way to look good.

Hello! I've been maintaining for nearly 2 years now! (where did the time go!?)

Exercise routine has pretty much stayed the same, but I did exercise I enjoyed and not just to gain extra calories to eat/burn. Through the years the amount of exercise I have been doing has varied. I mainly run and last summer I was training for a half marathon so exercising loads and then pretty much had the winter off. Now I run a couple of times a week but am generally quite an active fidget anyway and not the kind of person that loves spending time sat down.
I did try more strength exercise when I was losing weight, but decided I didn't particularly enjoy it and so I don't do it now.

I did come off logging for about 6 months as I wanted to know that I could maintain without having to rely on MFP. This did work to an extent but I ended losing more weight which I didn't want to do, so bought myself a Fitbit and came back to MFP as I wanted to start up running again and couldn't afford to lose more weight in the process. I am loving logging again. I have noticed with logging I'm now far more educated about how portion sizes look and I'll occassionally weight things I'm not sure about but not as much as I used to. In weight loss I would almost obsessively weigh everything!

Weighing myself in....yep generally less. About a fornight to monthly now and it's generally the same result each time. During weight loss I only weighed in about once a week anyway and I have never been too obsessed with what the scales said. I've known too many people get upset about the results and they can mean anything from indigested to food, to hormones to water retention etc.

Definitely loosened up on foods but there are things now that I look at since MFP that I will probably never touch again because the calories are just too high to the level of enjoyment the food brings. e.g. McCoys Crisps - really calorific and they're not THAT great that I want to use all those cals on them!
When I was losing weight I made healthier choices - basically to eat a greater volume of food, so plenty of veg, fruit and salads and far less of small high calorie foods. Now because I have more calories to play with each day I still eat loads of healthy food but some baddies too. I'm making room for ice-cream every day currently and have a thing about Pop Tarts for breakfast!

Overall I lost over two stone in about 6 months - ish. Maintenance is hard at first but it really pays off. I think the main thing for me was using the weight loss stage to learn as much as possible and create habits that you will take with you for the rest of your life.

It really is a lifestyle change as opposed to a diet and one that I'm very pleased I did!
