Blade Runner - the scene says it all !!!0 -
For me, it's down to 2, both Mel Brooks classics: Blazzing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. Leaning towards Blazing Saddles for one reason: it is the one movie that you simply could not remake. The screams of outrage of the excessively sensitive PC crowd would prevent it. That and where could you ever get a Gene Wilder, Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn and Alex Karras?
Pardon me, while I whip this out.
I think you have me there... I watch Young Frankenstein *EVERY* time I find it on cable. Which is a lot around Halloween.
Also. Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Bladerunner.
CETK was one of the first movies I ever saw in the drive-in (Star Wars was right behind it), and I still love that movie so much to this day. And I am NOT a Spielberg fan.
And Bladerunner, because... well, Bladerunner. We were at the club the other night and one of my favorite songs, Like Tears in Rain by Covenant was played. I pulled my best friend aside and said: 'You do realize that we are only 6 years out, right?"
ETA: Wow - the post that came in while I was composing this one, that scene is the quote where Like Tears in Rain comes from!0 -
To hard, but I will put up Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
I have a long list and they are all unique from each other...its like asking what your favorite song is.0 -
Juno. It's sweet but funny. Makes me cry at the end every damn time though. And, it has some great quotes.. Its one I could watch over and over.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Any movie that can permanently capture the name Piggly Wiggly has my respect (it was one of the trucks in the lineup leaving the anthrax area. Loved that.0 -

ALIENS! It's the perfect movie. The story is solid, the acting is great, the action is plentiful and intense. I used to watch this movie on a daily basis when I was a kid.
Now that i'm older, I realize it totally has a positive message. It is THE ultimate girl power movie. The whole movie leads up to the final battle between Ripley and the Queen Xenomorph. Two independent, strong mothers, willing to fight and die in order for their children to live.0 -

I always liked the first movie more, but both are fantastic movies! And on the girl power thing, not only that, but she was a strong woman who wasn't sexualized. That made her my role model growing up. She could save the day without a push-up bra or a love interest.0 -

#1 Top Gun, cuz duh, flying jets at high speeds, cool! And how can one NOT love the greatest pickup SONG of the decade "You lost that lovin' feeling"
#2 Everafter cuz Drew Barrymore "just breathe" and she kicks a** with her sword! "My father was an excellent swordsman, monsieur. He taught me well. Now hand me that key or I swear on his grave I will slit you from navel to nose!" And of course, she ends up with her handsome prince AND her evil stepmother Anjelica Houston ends up on laundry duty! I do believe Angelica Houston played her part very well, loved how she just "floated to the floor" when called to explain her actions to the Royals !!0 -
How can you only have ONE? I'm not sure I can pick my favourite from this MONTH, let alone all time. If I was forced to pick only one to watch for the rest of time, though... Rocky Horror Picture Show, because then I could SING...0

'Legends of the Fall" has always been my favorite movie. My girlfriends and I had a theory that all men you meet will fall into three categories: Samuel, Alfred, or Tristan.0
-
The Goonies...makes me feel 8 years old again :bigsmile:0

Peter Jackson's "The Lord Of The Rings". Because the movie is excellent to stupendous in every way; casting, acting, location, camera work, cg effects, everything. Seeing my all time favorite books made into great movies was worth the long wait. (I'm one of those fans who re-reads the whole thing every five years or so.)
YES!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!0 -
My all time favourites are:
Twister
Deep Blue Sea (I shark movies)
Serenity
The Princess Bride
Rocky Horror Picture Show
I'm a HUGE fan of action movies, especially the Expendables and RED (plus I have a huge crush on Bruce Willis ).
I am also a bit of a sci-fi geek so the Star Trek movies and the original Star Wars have to be up there0 -

-
I can't really pick one, but I decided a while ago that when I was asked this question I would say The Lion King. So The Lion King.
It's just a great movie. It has everything. I loved it the first time I saw it when I was about 6 years old, and loved it the literally hundreds of times I've watched it since then. Never fails to make me laugh, also never fails to make me cry. Always good for cheering me up (minus that one part lol)
I could type a list as long as my arm of my fave movies, but I limit it to just the one now0 -
Love Actually Just because. I have others which rank high on the list such as Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd and Oliver. Yep I'm a bit of a musical lover.
Oh and any film with Alan Rickman in
that is a great choice. its not my favorite all time but it has moved to number 1 holiday movie for me...Die Hard is number 2 holiday movie.0
