Did i ruin my metabolism? Is this even possible?

Hi, my name is Cristina. I am 5'2" and 122lbs. Let me tell you my story. I have been the fat kid my whole like. When I was in 6th grade i weighed about 150lbs. I always got made fun of. Of corse my friends were all tooth picks. When I got into 8th grade I thinned out. my weight dropped all the way to 111lbs, without exercise or diet. I was not in shape though, I was skinny fat.
Then going into 11th grade I gained it all back. I looked horrible, felt horrible and hated myself.
Once I graduated high school I made a vow to lose weight and be 110lbs. It was my dream weight. Well I made it all the way down to 120lbs, and got overly excited. I wanted it to go by faster. So I started eating less and less. Some days I wouldn't even eat. I starved myself down to 110lbs. And of corse as soon as I started eating again, I got back up to 125-120lbs, Which leads me to where I am now.
before anyone says I have a ED, I have gone to therapy and I am okay now, I eat the right amount of food, and have been for almost 6months.
but with that i have a few questions!
1.) did I ruin my metabolism?
- I really want to lose this weight, really badly. But I want to do it right! I want to practice what I preach so much about!
2.) I wanted to do the TDEE method. so i went on Scoobys Calorie Calculator and here is what I got.
BMR - 1377
TDEE- 2134
daily calories based on step six -1707.
( i put myself at 3-5 days of moderate exercise)
My exercise is alot of Jillian Michaels Videos. I ordered a bunch of them and I love her! I just finished 30 days shred and lost a few inches, but no weight.. ( I know the scale isn't important but is is discouraging seeing the number not budge)
So I figured. If I eat 1600 calories a day, and don't eat back my exercise calories. I'll lose weight. mined you her videos only burn around 200 calories... ( I have a hrm, so i do know this
)
anyway, If anyone! could give me advice, or tell me if I got this or if its not going to work, please do! Thank you
Okay, I understand I am in A healthy weight range, But just because I am not obese or overweight does not mean I don't 'need to' lose weight, because everyone is right, and I dont. but i would really like too
Thanks

You sound as though you're at a good weight right now.
If you're unhappy with your body, try lifting to get that lean, toned look.
Here's a good reference for how many calories you should eat:

Im a little confused because your weight is where it should be ....I think you might need to speak with your Physician as to what is a healthy weight for you. I think you may still not be viewing yourself appropriately ...you may just need to tone muscle etc but not lose weight.....0

Hey there!
First of all thank you for being so open, I know that can be difficult to do.
For your height, it really sounds like you are at a good weight! I agree with the above poster that if you are still unhappy with how your body looks, have you tried toning up and working with weights? A lot of people that lose weight but don't do much exercise get what's called "skinny fat", where you look killer under your clothes but still might not feel 100% confident naked or in a bikini.
Also, make sure you are drinking plenty of water! Drinking water really helps with weight loss, it's helped get me through plateau's and such before. Diet drinks and such aren't nearly as good for you. I know a lot of people drink them, but I swear them off. I drink naturally flavored sparkling water once in a while if I need that "fizz" kick.
I read that you lost inches, but not weight. That's still fantastic! The scale can be brutal. How often are you weighing yourself? Try to only do it once a week. Being female a hormonal changes can fluctuate the scale, etc.
Best of luck to you, and feel free to add me as a friend if you want!0 -
I only weight myself, after I finish a level on my videos
so when I finished level 1 of the 30 day shred I weighed myself. They are about 10 days.
The next one I wanted to do is 15 days a level. so every 15 days0 -
Did you ruin your metabolism? No. It takes a while for it to come back, but it never is dead forever. Sounds like yours is fine now. So I wouldn't worry about that at all.0

1) You aren't at a bad weight for your height now.
2) As you get older you have to let go of the vision of yourself as the preteen girl with no shape who is a "toothpick". Real women aren't built that way and it's usually an unattainable goal.
3) You didn't ruin your metabolism. It takes years of drastic food deprivation to do that and it is still reversible. Even at that the reduction is minimal.
4) Work on exercise to reshape your body. Jillian is great but 20 minutes of her a day isn't going to get you much. You said yourself if burns 200 calories and is really a pretty light workout for someone your age and size. You need to get lifting some weights to shape your body and cardio to lean out the bodyfat.
5) It's not all about the scale. 120 lbs on a body with lean muscle mass will look better than 110 lbs of skinny fat any day. If you want a beach body you have to build muscle not just lose weight.0 -

This needs to be repeated about a dozen times.0 -

And you can look at Lorina's pics for proof. She looks better at 40 at the same or heavier weight than she was at 27.
You gotta get over the obsession with a number and start working toward a goal BODY.0 -

This.
I had various eating disorders for 12 years, and my metabolism is fine now after 3 years of starting to eat again. Been recovered for 2 years, and started therapy 3.5 years ago roughly in 2009.
I screwed up my body while it was still growing and changing, and so if mine isn't ruined, yours wont be.
However, it doesn't mean it wont be harder. At one point I gained on 1200, then on 1500... You have to take it slow and gradually up the calories. Now I lose if my NET is like 1400-1600 average for the week.0 -
I find it hard to believe that your "ruined" your metabolism through ordinary exercise. As for what your goal weight should be, i can't say. It depends on factors such as your bone structure and how you carry your weight. I'm 5'2" and I've never been anywhere near 122 pounds. It sounds as if your normal weight during adolescence was 110. Mine was in the 90s.
I would see a doctor and a Registered Dietician and ask them. But get people who are open-minded, will take a detailed history and listen to you, not just look up your weight on on a chart. You're you, not an average.0
