Hello,
I cycle 12 miles 3 times a week each time it is logging up as over 1000 calories burnt, do you really have to eat back the calories you burnt off? how does this bit work, im so confused! Ive not been eating them back and i think this has led to my weight gain.
Im rubbish at keeping my log up to date and due to work have fallen off the sensible eating wagon, but im back on it and need to kick this weight!

mfp gives you a calorie deficit without exercise, so if you do exercise you can eat those cals back.0

1000 cals seems like a lot - I burn 650 cycling 20 miles? But I'm 5'1" and 130lbs.
But yeah, you can eat those cals back. I eat at least 75% and its working for me.0 -
How are you calculating your calories burned? If you are using MFP be aware it overestimates what you burn. MY experience is at least double!!
So if you are eating back calories based on MFP, your net calories in will be more than you think.0 -
The whole idea of MFP is to eat those calories back. I get similar burns for similar rides but feel it is a little high so I only eat a portion back.
While I am a huge fan of eating enough to support exercise, not eating them back will not cause weight gain. There are a number of other issues it could cause, weight gain is not one of them.0 -

She hasn't been eating them back.0 -
I used two checkers I used the MFP calorie checker and one on the internet and both had similar results, but im not eating them back. I thought 1000 sounded like loads! so should i half what MFP quotes (say 500) and then eat 75% of those?
I should add I suffer with bad water retention.0
