Ridiculous logging

Do you log anything other than exercise? I understand if you go for a walk, gym, mow the lawn... But if you grocery shop do you log the walking? Do you log cleaning your house or cooking dinner? What acceptable to log and when does it get ridiculous?

Depends what you set your lifestyle at. I set mine at an active level so i dont log anything besides exercise.
If you set yours at sedentary, id suggest changing it if you do say an hour of laundry and house chores0 -
I don't log the little things as they are actually part of normal everyday life, so extra exercise only for me.0

i dont log anything. but if i did log exercise, i would not log cleaning my house, because i got fat, and stayed fat for a long time, while cleaning my house daily, so i dont think it was good exercise... thats just my opinion tho...0

If it's not working out, I don't log it. Set my activity to slightly active due to I climb 25-60 flights of stairs per day at work.
If people are desperate to eat more, just lower the loss target.0 -
Just in case you weren't aware of this feature, when you go to the message boards section, there is a button called search and you can type in a keyword/phrase (ex: cleaning exercise) and you can see the threads that have already been created on the topic. Good luck! :flowerforyou:

I don't think anyone's loggings are ridiculous. For instance I have a friend on my FL who logs grocery shopping because for her that entails walking all around with a heavy baby in a baby carrier.
Other folks have their activity set to sedentary and do hard cleaning as part of their job.
Still others put 1 calorie in for super hard workouts because they have already factored a certain number of workouts into their daily cal goal average.
For this reason, I do not criticize anybody's exercise logging. I just know people use this site differently as for their specific needs and goals. I just cheer them on.0 -
I think it only gets crazy if your logging carrying your baby around so you can have that snickers bar0

I set my lifestyle to sedentary and wear a fitbit to keep track of that sort of stuff and keep that logged.
I log stuff that the fitbit can't keep track of separately.0 -
I log dog walks-but only if they were over a mile.
Cleaning, but only if i moved furniture.
Gardening if i hoed, raked, or tilled.
Shopping if i was on my feet for over 3 hours.0 -
I shift activity levels for days I work at my fast food job and log things that are out of the ordinary. Cleaning my own apartment wouldn't get logged but helping someone else clean would. Walking to get the mail wouldn't get logged but hauling a 50+ pound old school television up two flights of stairs would. And needless to say, if I put seventeen miles on my bike in one day it's getting logged regardless of whether the main purpose was exercise or not.0

i am set as sedentary because i work in an office but i work part time landscaping and i log that0

I only log my cleaning of the house if I am washing the walls or floors by hand.0

I'm the same. The only exception is that I do often log household renovations, as they typically require several hours of physical labor. Other than that I don't log things like cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc. That's just normal, everyday activity.0 -
The vast majority of people would be cheating themselves if they logged day to day hum drum as exercise. It should be included in you activity level....I mean ****...maybe I should log breathing as exercise since it burns calories...or taking a dump. The exception might be someone who was previously wheel chair bound and now able to get up and move around...but other than that, shopping and **** isn't exercise.0

Depends on the day and the exercise.
Backyard working (weeding, raking *ESPECIALLY* raking) and heavy HEAVY household cleaning (if I'm sweating, I log it)0 -
I normally don't log things other than purposeful 'excersise'....however, I was on my feet for five hours cleaning office buildings last night. Yes, my heartrate was up and I broke out in a sweat more than once...but I didn't log it becuase I was afraid it would give me an inaccurate and unrealistic account of real calories burned....so I just left it alone....0

I log it if I go out of my way to do it. Grocery shopping and cleaning certainly do not count.0

I have my profile set at "lightly active", which fits my up & down work -a-day. I log the things that make me warm under the collar, hence my heart rate is up a little, for a sustained period of time. This means I log my exercise routines, my my weekly whole house cleaning, intense gardening, snow shoveling, walks, x-skiing, bike rides. I do not count grocery store trips, or how many times I take the stairs, or the miscellaneous errands or chores.0

I only log my cardio (running) and the one time during the week I visit the gym for weights and some cardio. Everything else is not logged.
I never log housework or gardening or cooking.0 -

If it raises my heart rate, I log it. I live in an apartment and my laundry area is two sets of stairs below. When I've run up and down those six times laden with wet laundry - I reckon I deserve to log it!
If its a gentle stroll around the kitchen or a waltz with the vacuum cleaner, then no.0 -

I am like many here, not logging random stuff unless I break a sweat doing it. Or if I do log it, like a walk for example I was underestimate so that I know it is not over estimating calories. For example if I went on an hour long walk to the mall and back with my double stroller with two kids in it while walking as fast as I can I will log the walk there and back (not the time walking around the mall) and log it as a leisurely walk (2.5 mph) instead of what it really is, which is faster, and carrying a load. it says I burn about 250 calories or so which is probably closer to the 500+ it would say I burned if I put in what I am actually doing, which is most likely highly inaccurate.
Also, who cares, really? It is for everyone's personal log. If they want to "cheat" by saying they burnt an extra 100 calories so they can have an extra snack, why does it affect you? They lose weight slower; they are still trying. Try to focus more on you and what you're doing instead on judging what you believe should be loggable exercise and what shouldn't be.0 -
If i do something particulary exausting I note in the notes section, but i dont log it in calories. mowing the lawn in 90 degree weather is taxing, but I dont want to venture a guess on how much I burned. i would rather be low balling my total calories for the day than be eating way to much.0

I set my activity level to sedentary because I AM sedentary. But that doesn't make me comatose. I still grocery shop. (Rather obviously, or I wouldn't have gained this much weight!) I cleaned the upholstery a couple weeks ago and broke a sweat. I still do laundry. I'm overweight, not smelly! I still mop the floors. At least occasionally. I don't log as exercise anything but actual honest to god exercise. If I were vigorously scrubbing the upholstery every day, I suppose I could up my activity level, but I'm not. I don't think sedentary means you never MOVE.0
