What's your definition of an 'Adrenaline Junkie'?

So I'm an EMT for my city's ambulance. I'm also working on becoming the first female firefighter on the department by 2015. I love blood, drama, and intense situations which is why I do what I do. (Okay, okay, and to help people....whatever. ;) The other day my fiance (who is a Pharmacy Technician) and I were talking about my job on the ambulance. My fiance said something like, "Blood and guts, you're crazy." And I said, "What can I say, I'm an adrenaline junkie." And he spent the next ten minutes telling me that because I don't jump off of cliffs and have not yet been skydiving I am NOT an adrenaline junkie. (He can't even get on a roller-coaster.)

So, it got me thinking, what do people think of when they think of an adrenaline junkie? I've heard it both ways....to describe many different types of people. (Just not me apparently because I'm not focused on dangerous sports.) What do you all think?

This is just chit-chat. I wanted opinions ;)

Unless you get him to ride and on a good call, he will never understand.

I'm a roller-coaster/skydiving/etc lover, but NOTHING is as good as the **** we get...It's like a roller-coaster racing the grim reaper. =)

adrenaline junkie to me is rock climbing, racing cars/bikes/speed boats, skydiving etc...pretty much any situation where you are seeking a rush from putting yourself in danger.

so EMT would not fall into that category for me.

hmmmm, my version is what we and firefighters do. not knowing the full extent of the situation til on scene (and sometimes a let down). at least the family quit asking about how my day's gone!!! LOL!!
