Do you all use a Food Scale? I've never used/owed one but am wanting to get one. What do you recommend and why?

I couldn't live without one - PORTIONS is my biggest weakness. I have the OXO - http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Stainless-Pull-Out-Display/dp/B000WJMTNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375199872&sr=8-1&keywords=oxo+food+scale
Yup i t's more expensive but I LOVE that the reading pulls out so I can actually read it.0 -
Absolutely. 1) It's the only way to learn what a portion of anything looks like. Except liquids of course. 2) It helps you confirm calorie counts using more reliable sources than MFP which is notoriously unreliable for calorie counts. Example http://nutritiondata.self.com/; 3) It helps you figure out calories based on package labels, many of which are woefully unrealistic in terms of "serving size" 4) they're cheap.
One of the most common mistakes we make is underestimating calorie intake based on 'eyeballing' servings. That's OK but only after you've been weighing for weeks and actually know what it's supposed to look like.
You can get a cheap digital scale at any Harbor Freight store

or you can get a more traditional Weight Watchers style scale at Amazon, etc. or you can troll thrift shops, etc. for castaways.

It's a fantastic investment! I struggle with portion control. This way I always know the exact weight of home cooked food like my proteins.0

Is this even a srs quest?0

I have a "Biggest Loser" digital food scale from bed bath and beyond. I didn't think it was necessary but when I started weight things, my guesses as to what a serving was were WAY off.
Now, I don't use it as often as I did at first but I still do. It's a great investment. I think mine as $10-150 -
Yes Joehenny it's a serious question. Thanks for you're help....and support?????0
