Very terrific. I agree that some of my most 'zen' moments are when I've ran past the 'blerch' and I feel great about myself and about the world I'm in.
When I miss workouts for a while, the rest of the noise creeps back in and it's so easy to get stressed/down/etc.
The Oatmeal is ah-maze-ing

Now that was hilarious and I totally agree. Everytime I start running I think to myself "WTF are you doing, this is so much work". Though when I am done it feels amazing and I get to eat! This guy definitely hit it right on the head!0

I'm not so much a runner (at all, actually) so I read this for nothing but the love of Oatmeal, but man is Matthew Inman attractive!0

I hung in there until he started berating other people and their motives. Dude needs to ease up on the running and get some therapy time instead.0

I agree, the gym rat = vain thing bugged me a little but the rest of it is hilarious! There are some folks like this and I guess that's the known stereotype but for those of us who do our damndest in the gym, it's a little insulting. A weight lifting PR is just as impressive and rewarding as a running PR!
And I definitely have a blerch...0 -
Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoyed it.0

The Blerch and I happily shared a cup of coffee and read this whole thing instead of working.

Thanks Clairy and Cap'n.
Did the same here lol XD0 -

HAHAHAHA! This bit is so read from my mind... "Don't fall into a tanning bed. These machines are for vapid, narcissistic idiots who have barren vacuums where their thoughs, fears and passions should be. Spending time in a tanning bed will only earn you the appearance and intellect of an inbred baked potato"
Sorry for anyone who uses tanning beds but just had to quote this - this is why BeccaSkinnyMoo insists on remaining as pale as possible!!

The Oatmeal is soooo funny! I can understand some unhappiness with the gym rant, but I read it mroe as ranting against a "I'm better than you because I look prettty," stereotype verse hating everyone who visits a gym. It's the Oatmeal and comedy.0
