I thought it would be pretty ridiculous but now I think I'm hooked! Ridiculous or not, I can't tear my eyes away.

Its funny to me that the woman always ends up being the tougher of the two survivalist.
As well there is always a lesson about relationships and communication to be had.

I can't explain why, but I found the show strangely compelling.
This surprises me a little. :ohwell:

It's my guilty pleasure. I still laugh out loud everytime I think of the sunburn guy who pooped right next to the tent.

Absolutely love it. As an Eagle Scout and someone really into survival methods and experiences, I've always said this is EXACTLY how it needs to be tested. All the "reality show" "survival" shows are such a complete joke. THIS is true survival.

I've never watched the show... I am not big on reality shows, and it sounds like one. Honestly with the title I thought this was gokng to be about being scared naked ha. False advertising.

I kept making a joke about how stupid it probably was, but then I watched an episode...and now I'm hooked! I could NEVER survive.

I also thought it'd probably be another stupid reality show, but I liked the couple of episodes I watched. The one with the girl walking and hearing hienas all around had me glued to the TV!

As well there is always a lesson about relationships and communication to be had.

I like it and that's what it always seems to happen the women are stronger, but if you look at it through an evolutionary perspective it makes sense because we had to be emotionally strong and physically tough to keep the lions from eating our babies.

Also shows how women's bodies hold onto weight better as they always lose less than the men. This could explain some of that toughness too maybe our bodies are just better designed at living during starvation. They say although men are physically stronger in times of true starvation and deprivation that men will usually die before women both due to more dangerous activities and less body fat stores to live off.

IDK went off on a whole tangent here, but I think the show is pretty interesting.

I also got a kick out of that one pansy guy in panama who wouldnt eat the urchin and was afraid of the ocean, or the two episodes where the guys decided to drink the water without boiling...big mistake.

Very good points, however I think the women lost less because they were smaller to begin with. I could be wrong though, I don't remember if they do it by pounds or body fat % or what. Not to be sexist, but I'm beginning to think that although women are more emotional, we are stronger in general. Being emotional and communicative isn't necessarily a weakness, anyway. I mean, just think of those women who give birth without pain killers!

My luck, I would be paired up with a total hottie, like the Hawaiian chick from the sunburn episode. That would lead to some embarrassing moments, especially the introduction. At least we wouldn't have to search far for a tent pole, I would have that one covered. Nomsayin

I have always wanted to do some survival training with a "test" at the end like they go through. I would probably want clothes though....

I've seen 5 eps and I'm HOOKED! 2am last night I watched 2 eps back-to-back ending with the Louisiana Bayou episode. This is the only ep I watched where the dude has a (considerably) higher PSA than the chick. I think he started as 8.1 and ended at 8.9! He's had the highest starting and ending PSA of any ep I've seen AND he lost the most weight (40#)! That was my favorite because it showed that even though he was a mighty he-man when it comes to survival, he was also the whiniest man-***** I've seen on the show. His partner spent most of her time playing cheerleader to boost his ego and get his head back in the game. They were by far that best team I've seen. :drinker:
  • I love the show , I just find it funny that if it's on TV then its acceptable like being in the woods naked, but I am sure most of you or most of us were to come across a real couple doing this in the woods you would freak out call the cops because you saw them naked.. But I am a bit biased on the subject being I am a nudist.

    This is a fantastic show.
It really does show how difficult survival really is.
Being naked is mentally difficult for most people and it adds to the difficultness.
On a few episodes, it shows (at least the men) covering up when possible.
An added difficulity is the lack of footwear.
I also noticed that the women did seem to handle things better in at least the first 10 days or so. The men seem to whine and complain more until about day 10 when they finally step up to the plate.
The only exception I can think of was the SERE school instructor and HE was sidelined with a foot injury.
It makes people like me step back and wonder, even with all of the Army training I have had, how well would I fare in that situation.
