I'm down from a pack a day to a quarter pack to half a pack per day. I have an eGo-C, and I like it a lot.
ETA: cost me about 50 dollars to start up, and the liquid to refill it is 17 dollars. Each vial lasts about 2 months. I was spending about 120 dollars per month on cigarettes.0 -
They have worked for people I know. But really, you will only give up if you want to.0
-
My boyfriend used one for 30 days then went back to smoking. But it is all about your will power. I quit cold turkey 4 years ago. That was the best approach for me. I couldn't wean myself off like some people can do. If you really want to quit you will. Just don't give up.0
-
My girl got one - she lasted about 2 days with it. Lol.
I do have friends that have managed to kick the habit with electric smokes though, so it's probably worth purchasing, just on the off chance it works!
Good luck!0 -
I bought my e cig over a year ago and have not had a real cig since. The first week was difficult till i convinced myself the e cig was like smoking only better. Can use in house, car, and no smell. I highly recommend you try it.0
-
my mom went from 3 packs a day to her e-cig...i dunno what brand it is or anything. though she does use it more often than she was smoking, ...she wears it around her neck and tbh its like a pacifier for her imo.
or maybe hers is more a vaporizer...is there a difference? i dunno...i just know she gets flavors of the nicotine juice stuff and it seems to stain just as much as smoking, but doesnt smell as bad0 -
It worked for me, though i still enjoy a cig from time to time... my e cig gave me some issues... i felt like the mist that come out of it made me choke... and after a while it was the same feeling as water going down the wrong pipe... Not everyonw has this issue... though for a quick nacatine fix its good.0
-
I've been thinking about getting one, too. I know a few people who have had great results with them.0
-
My fiance and I both switched to e-cigs in June of 2012 and haven't gone back. I'm much happier now that I can breathe. I haven't had bronchitis since I switched (used to get it at least once a year) and I've started jogging, which I never could do before. I've also managed to continue losing weight since switching. It's definitely worth a shot IMO!0
-
Thanks everyone. I've been using it for an hour now. Its different that is for sure. It will be hard I'm sure at first cause i smoke about a pack a day0

I quit for 8 years and then started back up again. I quit by using the patch for the first two weeks and then it is just the will power and the desire to want to quit. I have recently quit again, this time with the patch again for about 3 weeks to one month. I am coming up on 6 months and do not feel the urge to go back.
I use an electronic cig if I am going to have a few drinks (not often) other than that I don't need it. I found the BLU cigs the best for me as far as the disposable ones go.
I really think if you want to quit you can, there are lots of ways nowadays to deter that craving and all you need to do is change your habits0 -
I'm a massive fan of Firebrand Ecig- I rotate between the Titanium Falcon and Diablo Falcon, using the cyclone atomizer and drip tips.
Best I've ever tried, no exceptions. Absolutely love their liquitine, especially Apple Pie, Cherry Bomb and Special Blend.
It felt really odd the first few times, but it's just so darn convenient now.0 -
yes !!!!!!!!!!!!
I used th e Nicorette lozenges then ran ou t of them so bought the e-cigs I bought the disposable ones but they have chargable ones too. any ways ya I did the e- cigs
and then tapered off them then quit them
don't expect them to taste like cigs they don't
they have a small amount of nicotine in them a nd water vapor0 -
Its a hard one to handle yes!!! I too am trying to give up the smokes and have so far managed to cut right back from a 50gm of tobacco per week to a 30gm every 2 weeks and I use a hydro smoke not the e smoke the menthol hydro has no nicotine and it feels like the real deal and use it while I am out and am drinking or having a meal at the club. One day I will be smoke free I know it's just getting into the saying no to them.. Good luck with it....0
-
People i know love them and love the fact they can smoke em inside of clubs etc..lol0
-
My husband quit 2 yrs ago after going to electronic cigs. He just tapered off in a few months. He tried countless times to quit b4, but never made it very far. He smoked for 15 yrs. I do agree that you still have to have the will and drive to quit, but I also believe that in part he was able to quit after switching to the electronic cigs. Good luck to you0
-
Both my husband and I used the e-cig to quit smoking...and knew it was healthier...it gave us both the bridge we needed to quit and after about 6 weeks neither of us even uses it anymore. I think it helped us a ton! But I know people who just do the e-cig constantly so it doesn't work for everyone. The biggest bonus we found to trying to quit is the fact that you can just take a hit or 2 and put it away unlike a real cigarette...which you will 99% of the time smoke the whole thing. I personally swear by it for quitting but do see it doesn't help some (though those may have not actually wanted to quit)
Good Luck to You however you go about it!0 -
my husband and i both quit within 2 weeks, using the smoking everywhere brand. loved it... smoking lost its fun once we started using the e-cig... and we just simply stopped.0
-
My fiance is doing a combo of e-cigs and the gum/lozenges. Seems to be working.0

Hey Smokey,
I just wanted to tell you that although they are a hot trend right now,
more and more info is coming out that they are not good for you.
If you really want to quit, these are not going to do it for you, not only that these will
just be another new habit, and a costly one at that, at least as much as cigarettes cost!
I'm not going to preach, but each cigarette contains over 400 chemicals including
rat poison, and arsenic! UGH!I quit a couple times and went back, I promised myself
I would quit when my DIL was pregnant with my grandchildren. Twice I broke my promise!
I wanted to quit, and I could see things like people telling me how my car smelled,
another told me after I went outside for a smoke and came back in, and said he smelled something
burning! I also noticed if I was smoking and driving by the time I got to the store, if I saw people I wanted
to get rid of the cigarette before they saw me! Anyway, last year 3 days before Thanksgiving my boyfriend had
a stroke! I had changed my normal routine that day, and thank God he led me to do that because I would've found
him dead on the floor! Instead I was home when it happened! I found him paralyzed on the bedroom floor, called 911 and
did what I know I needed to do until help arrived. We had a three hour window! It was found that he had 10 blood clots in the middle of his brain from smoking! He was given a clot buster called Tpa which cost $26,000.00 We were told one of two things
would happen death, or the clots would burst! Thank God the latter happened and he had no residual effects because the clots were deep in the middle of his brain! They by passed his motor skills, Memory bank, and coordination! He was told to stop smoking ASAP. I knew I had to help him do it so I agreed to do the buddy system with him! We both quit the day he came home from the hospital! It's going on 9 months now, which is why I am here trying to shed 10 lbs that I gained! I have never had any extra weight on me, and have always been fit !110lbs is the norm for me at 5'2" I know that doesn't sound like much to lose, but I was robbed at gunpoint and developed a thyroid condition called Graves disease. That means hyper thyroid, and everything in you body races because the thyroid is your main hub besides your heart, but it affects your heart too! I gained 10lbs from all the meds, but lost that, it was hard as hell because I have to work twice as hard as anyone else for my metabolism to kick! now I'm striving to beat the 10 lbs since I stopped smoking! Dr. says I should have reached my plateau and shouldn't gain anymore! It wasn't an increased appetite either, because I haven't got one! The amphetamines stop me from eating! This is another reason for my being here! I have to eat more than just dinner! I need to eat breakfast, which I never did before my problems started! When I got sick I weighed 103lbs, and ate like a horse, never gained a pound! Now I can't lose because I don't eat! so hopefully this will be my ace in the hole! I'm here to look for support from everyone, and support them at the same time. I was a cocktail waitress in the casinos, The Taj Mahal to be exact, and I am a former fitness instructor! I lift weights, walk a couple miles a day, and do cardio! I also spend at least 6 hours out doors! I am 60 years old, very active, but my life has changed so drastically! I never expected this to happen ever, but it has and I have to find my place all over again! It was nice to meet you, thanks for letting me vent! Lyn0 -

This is not true. While the initial start-up cost is high, after about the first month you will be saving significant amounts of money compared to regular cigs.0 -

Maybe chill on the amphetamines?
Also, as I have stated, to start up it cost me less than a carton of cigarettes (which I buy). An additional 8 dollars per month for fluid is just over the cost of ONE pack of cigarettes.
Third, your story has nothing to do with ecigs.
Finally, there have been no long term studies on the effects of ecigs. But if you look at the ingredients of an ecig it can be surmised that they are FAR better than cigarettes.0 -
I gave up 7 months ago using an electronic cigarette (an eGo-T) and I've never looked back. They really do work!0
-
I tried them when they first came out. There were only a couple of brands availible and the one I tried made my throat burn and made me sick at my stomach. I gave up on it then because I just couldn't take the stomach upset. I have noticed that there are now more brands to choose from, so I think I will try it again and go with a different brand.0

Cold turkey here after blood clots from smoking almost killed me last year.0

Not sure what this has to do with e-cigs...
Plus your comment on cost is completly false. When I bought the initialset set up it came to around 50 dollars and after that it was less ten a week. I was paying 40 for a carton every week before, so e-cigs actually save a lot of money.0 -
My boyfriend quit cold turkey and only bought the electronic cigarettes to curb cravings when he was drinking. That only lasted the first month or so, now he is fine. Almost a year and a half cigarette free.
An important thing to note is where you are from. In Canada, the electronic cigarettes are almost all (if not all) nicotine-free. So it's really just an oral fixation fix and it's not full of chemicals like others have suggested. It's my understanding that in the United States they make some that actually contain some nicotine. You have to find the right kind for you. Do you want to quit cold turkey but need something to help with the oral fixation? Or do you want to wean yourself off the nicotine?
I think they are a great tool to help people quit smoking. Best of luck in your efforts.0 -
I quit cold turkey about 25 years ago when there was nothing to help you but the nicotine gum which I tried and didn't like. If you want it bad enough, you will lay them down and never look back. It is not easy by any means, but after about three days, it gets easier as that nasty stuff works its way out of your system. Wouldn't you rather be healthier and not have that little white stick dictate your life? Give it a go - you will see the difference rather quickly.:flowerforyou: :smokin:0

I have a few coworkers who use e-cigs... they call it "vaping".. lol
problem i see with them is it makes the habit of of smoking more accessible (as someone mentioned you can even smoke them in a club) and really doesn't do anything to break the nicotine habit.
i've tried quitting many times and i'm 4 weeks into using the patch and it's working for me... I'm stepping down patch dosage by 5mg a day and should be off them in 4 more weeks. one of the keys for me has been breaking the associations with smokes. I no longer drink coffee and i've tried not to drink alcohol, both of which have been huge triggers to reach for a butt.
i now drink green tea all day long and with my diet an exercise i haven't felt better in almost 15 years!
anyway you do it... get off cigarettes and break the nicotine addition!0 -
I really want to give e-cigs a go, too because I smoke but I want to quit as well. I attempted cold turkey a few times but it always stabbed me in the back and made me an even heavier smoker. Maybe you can tell me how it feels with e-cig? Like do you feel satisfied, does it keep you from going anxious without a cig, and do you feel less inclined to smoke?0
