I want to hear your stories about your home. Yes I know that Ireland and Scotland are different I'm not stupid. lol But I am going to go to both someday. It's the 2 and 3 rd of my list of places to go. I think that If I won the lotto I might even move there. :0) lol

I'm a first generation American, my father was from Ireland and my mom from Scotland. Last year I went to the UK for 17 days and spent 8 touring Scotland, it's BEAUTIFUL:bigsmile: and everything I'd hoped it would be and Hubby and I look forward to going back someday. Probably won't get to Ireland for another couple of years, but it's next on the list.0

Know I want to know what it is that you personaly enjoy doing for fun? And what you personaly recomend for a true Ireland and Scotland experience. Why because I think that to get a true experience of the place your going, you should know what the people there enjoy doing and what they recomend for others to experience.0

Hey I am also a 'Scotlander'...lol!! Well I am Scottish anyway!! Ask away )0

I'm sure I won't be going until I am old and gray...maybe my children will send me away there. I will be checking up on this thread though just b/c those are my two most favorite places to hear about.
I would love to hear about "must see places", any misconceptions, or funny stories. I can live vicariously through all of you! :happy:0 -
I live in dublin in Ireland and there is lots of things to do. Lots of sights to see and you will have to of course visit 1 or 2 (or 6or 7) Irish pubs for a bit of fun when you do get to visit. There is alot to see I dont know where I would begin to be honest.....! Best of luck!0

I'm a born and bred Dub (3rd generation born in Dublin)0

I live near Glasgow in the West of scotland. Quite new to this site and although it shows I've only lost 3 pounds, I had actually already lost 56 pounds before joining. I just needed an extra wee bit of help. Fingers crossed for weigh in tomorrow.0

I'm nearly ashamed to mention it, but you got to go drinking!0
-
lol you guys are funny and I love the write back but I will not be getting drunk when I go there. I may have a glass of wine but that about it. I say a pub called Irish Pub on my way to and from the beach but I could take a pic because my phone was almost dead and didnt have a camra but I wish I could have shared it with you for you all to see. I really wanted to stop by and get a pic. I may have to go back just for the pic. lol0

I'm Scottish. I'm from Edinburgh!0

I'm from mayo in ireland, beautiful place shame about the weather!0

things to do in edinburgh - go and see historical buildings, like the castle/ holyrood/various old churches. wander around the new town, or the old town, discover the difference between the two. Socialise (without drinking alcohol - thats ok) in one of many pubs or if your more like me find a nice tea room! (theres one called frederick street called eteaket which is pretty good.
theres good art galleries and museums. and theres always a theatrical sow of some description to go and see (but if the arts are your thing you should come in agust for the festival!
the main shopping street is in disarray at the moment as the scottish parliament are over spending on a rediculous tram project. you should go there and start a conversation which a local about it - they will be animated in their response. but the gardens down there are beautiful! nice and green in summer and host a winter wonderland at christmas time.
( i love living here)0 -
I was born in Scotland on the beautiful West Coast..... lovely scenery, friendly people but the weather can be miserable. Great place to visit......and I love to get back whenever I can as I have lived in the States for 25 years now.0

I'm from Ireland and studied in Scotland for 4 years, and both countries are spectacular! I love visiting Scotland now, its like a home away from home.0

Hi
Am from Northern Ireland, but living in London...can very much recommend a trip to the emerald Isle (although you can't always count on the weather - but the warmth of the people should make up for it).
I will biasedly recommend the North Coast as it is my home, and stunning in any weather
