What time do you go to bed? I don't think it matters if you eat one meal or 5 as long as the calorie count is right and you feel healthy.0

I sleep 1am im worried because other said need to eat 3 to 4 times a day to keep metabolism going is tha true?0

There's several schools of thought on this. One is that you need several meals to regulate metabolism and blood sugar... another is that calories are calories no matter when you eat them, or in how many meals. Do what works best for you. There are days I eat 2x and other days I eat 5x. it all depends on what i have going for the day. Good luck!0

Regulating metabolism and regulating blood sugar are two completely separate things. I need to eat every few hours to prevent blood sugar spikes, but doing so has no effect on my metabolism (for better or worse).0 -
I get up at 8am but I don't eat breakfast, never have done. I eat one meal at lunchtime and the second around 6pm. My metabolism is fine0

Meal timing and frequency have absolutely no effect on bmr.0

meal timing has nothing to do with metabolism...so eat whenever you want...0 -
How often you eat doesn't affect your metabolism as long as you're eating the correct amount of calories. As Scott said below, eating more regularly can control your blood sugar regulation, which may or may not be an issue for you, but your metabolism is fine.
But if you're falling asleep at 1am and waking up at 1pm, that's 12 hours sleeping. That seems excessive. Are you sure 1200 calories is enough for you? Are you tired all the time? This may be something you need to talk to your doctor about. My brother was like that and found out he wrecked his thyroid in law school from stress and not eating enough.0 -

there is a study posted on leangains.com that said that people who eat fewer meals actually had a lower insulin spike then those who eat several meals a day ....0 -

Your body doesn't care when you feed it.
calories are calories, is calories.0 -
Meal timing and frequency have absolutely no effect on bmr.
I hope so , because bmr is about my metabolism correct me if im wrong , if i eat 2 meals a day will i still lose the 1528cal doing noting indicated by bmr? Some are telling eat less but frequently and some are calories are calories ,0 -
Eat whenever you want, it will have no effect.

The calorie count doesn't change when you eat at different times or in specific order...:noway: What does change is your ability to burn the calories.. so try not to eat close to the time you are ready to sleep... it promotes the "storing" of calories ... as Fat  Other then that.... Enjoy your meals. :bigsmile:0

I hope 2 meals a day won't slow down my metabolism , im scared fo the starvation mode thing ,0

Eating before bed does not have an effect on how you use the calories.0 -

My general theory is that everybody's body works differently and you have to find out what works for you.
Ex. Some people say they can't eat after 7pm or they have a harder time losing. That doesn't affect me.
I don't think that as long as you are eating your calories, it doesn't mater if you do it all at once or several times throughout the day.
When I first started, I only ate about twice a day because I had never been a breakfast eater. Now, I eat 3 times a day and usually a snack. Nothing huge but it works better because my schedule has changed so much.
If you think you should eat 3 times, then divide one of your meals in half and eat a few hours apart.0 -
If you're active you should intake at least 1500 calories or your body will go into starvation mode and store everything. I was eating 1200 cals a day and my trainer told me to eat no less than 1500 prefereably closer to the 1700-1800 cals a day to burn fat. In hospitals, although yucky food, they feed you approximately 1600 cals a day and most people come out having lost weight. If you're eating healthy meals and snacks (protein, fruits, veggies and some starch) and skip on the dessert (tough one to do) you'll lose more weight than 1000 cals for good food I'm assuming and 200 for dessert.0

2 meals a day here. I go back and for between multiple meals, but I've recently found that 2 meals work better for me. If anything, it's made me lose weight in comparison, even with the same amount of calories.
As most people said, meal frequency absolutely does not matter.0 -

Every healthy person's body works the same way. It's science, and science is not variable. People who eat after (x) time and can't lose weight can't lose weight because they overeat after (x).
Also, though you are not active, you might want to bump your calories up. 1200 is the bare minimum, and for many people it is too little.0 -
