Swimming for weight loss?

I have a problem with exercising and being bored with it in a matter of weeks.
I use to swim competitively but that was 15 yrs ago in middle school.I remember enjoying it but don't know
If I can loose weight doing it 4-5 days a week for 30-40 min. Been hearing yes and no. Would loosing weight be easier knowing proper form? I'm thinking about switching gyms and taking a trial to see if I can do it.

Web search your area and see if there is a Master's Swim Team. A lot of them have a one week free trial. .0
