Exercise cals

When I do cardio I usually go by what the machine tells me I burned. My HR is usually a lot higher. I like to do intervals on the treadmill and ellipticle to keep my heart healthy. I am not sure which to use. I have heard estimating 100 cals/mile is a good estimate I dont mind estimating low but i definately do want to put 600 if I only burned 300. My question is which do you think I should use? Thanks

I always estimate low and I only enter calories if I really feel like I've done a meaningful workout!
Edit: depends what you're trying to do, though. If you want to lose weight and dropping under your calorie intake is a worry, maybe take the average. If you're not worried about dropping under your recommended daily intake, I'd estimate low.0 -
Start low like suggested. Maybe 50%, then adjust from there.0

Generally machines lie (exaggerate) unless you are that special person that exactly meets the criteria they're set for. 100 calories a mile isn't a good estimate either. A good investment is a HRM with a chest strap if you really want to know your burn.0
