Would you eat insects?

If they were crispy or ground and mixed in a recipe I'd try them. I'm not fond of bugs so if they were squishy or gummy I doubt I could stand it.0
-
I would and have in multiple countries both alive and killed also injected and grilled / fried and stir fried.0
-
They would have to be finely grounded, unnoticeable, and mixed in a recipe for me to eat them. They are in so much of our food anyway (government allows so many insect parts in foods).
I could never, ever in a millions years eat them whole or their noticeable parts. I would hate the texture and be grossed out by it. I don't even eat fish that appears whole. With insects, you'd be eating their entire body, not just their meat and such.0 -
Id eat a bug. Not really a big deal. LoL. (As long as any pincers/spikey bits were removed)
Bugs injected with sauce sounds yum.0 -
It depends on the insect honestly. I wouldn't eat a cockroach no matter if it was fried, and dipped in chocolate. They are just completely disgusting to me. However, I'd try the chocolate covered ants or something like that if it looked good. I've had snails (escargot) but those are not insects, they're mollusks I believe. They were really good. I'm a pretty open minded person when it comes to food.0

Would you or have you eaten insects?
Yeah when I was 5 I ate a black beetle. I had heard on TV that you could eat them. So I decided to have a taste.
Would you eat them if they were recognizable (ei: a fried cricket)?
Yeah
Would you eat them if they were not recognizable (ei: grounded into a powder and used in a recipe)?
Sure.
would you ever eat them regularily, or "just to try"?
Just to try. YODO.
Did you know that insects were a good source of protein? Would knowing the health benefits and low environmental impact of insect farming change your mind about eating insects?
Yeah, but I'm not about to start asking for them for dinner.
ETA: I am strictly talking about cooked, edible species.
Ok.0 -
Would you or have you eaten insects?no i don't even want to try fresh fish or sea food gross
Would you eat them if they were recognizable (ei: a fried cricket)? heck no
Would you eat them if they were not recognizable (ei: grounded into a powder and used in a recipe)?
most likely i have eaten something. and yes if you never tell me what it is to begin with
would you ever eat them regularily, or "just to try"? stated above if it was crushed up to very fine dust or some thing and didn't tell me of course i would

I Would, I Have, and if it were normalized I see no reason not to.
Food is food. What is considered gross or inappropriate to eat is pretty much only determined by culture and has nothing to do with the actual food source itself.0 -
I used to eat termites when I was a kid. No joke, just grab them out of the air and crunch.0
-
I ate a chocolate covered cricket once. It was all right until I felt the crunch of a leg.... :sick:0
-
I've tried crickets. And sure, if they were made commercially available and I had some tasty recipes, I'd eat them regularly. Besides, I like trying different things.0
-
I've heard that chocolate-covered crickets aren't bad... I'd try them.0
-
Yes, it's a very logical way to get protein on an overcrowded planet. Also, after the Apocalypse, it's less likely that road warriors will loot my home for my meal worm farm than for my chickens.0
-
There are so many things I don't enjoy that I wish I did, but bugs will never be one of them. No.0

I have always known grub is good protein after watching Lion King 15yrs ago. If my survival depended on grub, maybe, but I would hunt first. But to answer your question, HELL NO! They are disgusting inside and out.
But when I was a kid, I ate ants in my cereal.0 -
My brother said they served Hormigas Culonas ("big-*kitten* ants") in movie theaters in Colombia and that they were quite popular.
There's a restaurant by the Santa Monica airport (Typhoon) that serves several insect dishes, including an ant dish. They're quite good. And I've had crickets, "larvettes" snack packs (available on Amazon in BBQ flavor!), and a lollipop with a scorpion embedded. Restaurant-grade bugs are easy to find.
I've also tried bundegi (boiled silkworm larvae) from a few street vendors when I lived in Seoul, but I didn't like it. Could have been a bad batch.0 -
The only bugs I eat are the ones I don't know about...
I hate fckn bugs.0 -
I probably would eat insects.
I mean under pretty specific and irregular circumstances.0 -
I do not like bugs.
I do not like them in any style.
I will not eat them fried or boiled.
I will not eat them poached or broiled.
I will not eat them soft or scrambled…
Despite your argument well-rambled.0 -
have eaten live and dried meal worm, freeze dried crickets, ants, earthworms, bees. not bad. Earthworms dried are bacon-ish. None were bad, just prefer to not recognize what they are.0

Earthworms aren't insects, but close enough! I've never thought of eating them dried.... I still instinctively save worms after a rainstorm by picking them up and bringing them to grass so that they don't get caught on the sidewalk and dry up. I'm probably responsible for many baby birds starving to death
Also not insects: scorpions. But closely related, so we'll count them as well.0 -

The story ends with that character finally sampling the green eggs and ham and finding they are delicious.
He then realizes that all that time spent resisting was a complete waste and that he shouldn't declare he doesn't like things before he tries them. Because he can't know until he tries.
That's the entire point of the story. It's a modern parable.
So I have to ask. Have you actually tried bugs?0 -
:noway:0

I'm sure half the things my mother cooked when I was growing up were worse.0
-
My mother has lived on them, my daughter would try them, and I would not do either.0

Hate to tell you this, but once you touch an earthworm with your fingers they die... Something in our skin kills them:/0 -
I eat them by accident all the time. I have an organic garden where I grow my own veggies, so little critters are inevitable. I try my best to wash the veggies well and soak in water, but it never fails. Almost every time I make kale soup I find a couple little bugs in it. Sometimes I just tell myself "It's just ground pepper" but I know it isn't because of the tiny, gritty crunch. I don't think I could eat bigger bugs on purpose though. I know bugs exist in processed foods like pre-ground coffee and peanut butter in jars (and much more) but because I can't see it/taste it/crunch it it doesn't bother me. To those in denial about eating bugs, don't look at the "COMMODITIES AND DEFECT ACTION LEVELS" section of what's allowed in small amounts by the FDA. http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/SanitationTransportation/ucm056174.htm0

Try them, try them, and you may!
Try them and you may, I say.0 -
Nope. Couldn't do it.0
-
When you think about it, its no different to eating meat. I still wouldn't though, except if I was stuck in the middle of no where and there was nothing except insects. Still yuck though haha.0
