What do you think of Victoria's Secret models?

I think they are toned with perfect figures. If you had to take a shot in the dark:

1. How many calories per day do you think they eat?

2. What types of food groups do they stay away from?

3. Do they incorporate tons of cardio? Or do lots of strength training?

4. Do you think they skip meals?

Let me preface this by saying they are all obviously models so they are in pretty good shape and have the "looks" to be successful...BUT...I don't think today's models hold a CANDLE to Marissa Miller, Giselle, and some of the others over the past few years.

    Just sayin.

They aren't perfect...most photos are tampered with. And most of them are scrawny rather than toned...whatever that means. Two grapefruit on a stick.....not sexy.

    1. They probably eat less than 1500

    2. I think most of them probably cut out carbs/breads

    3. I would say they do lots of cardio - but some of them are pretty ripped so weight training as well.

    4. Do they skip meals? For sure

I know Alessandra Ambrosio has said something about not eating any solids 9 days before a show or a photoshoot, and then fasting the entire day before and day of the the event to look extra slim.

I read an article a while back that some of them use chicken breasts/cutlets in their swimsuits. Hence why they have "perfect" figures! I always found it hard to believe that stick thin models would have breasts that big...and now I understand the secret lol. Also a lot of the photos are tampered with. I'm betting they have pretty low-cal diets and that some of them are just blessed with good genes.

I don't think a lot of them are actually in shape, just scrawny. However, some of them do look like they work out. VS has recently been promoting their sports clothing, and on their FB page they have a few workout videos with the model's personal trainers.

    https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=vb.243080815702993&type=2

Again, some of them look like they actually do work out and others look confused like they have never done those exercises before.

The fact that VS is promoting working out gives me hope that our society is starting to turn away from skinny as being the "ideal" look and, instead, opting for "healthy" being the in look.

Yes it did by this exact member. It's obvious that you're obsessed with VS models. A word of advice, stop idolizing them. A lot of what you see in VS ads is photoshop and to get their body runway ready they do unhealthy things. I see models walking around every single day and most of the time they look nothing like what you'd see in a fashion ad. Just focus on exercise, lifting, eating right.

I think they are pretty girls who get paid to wear underwear.... Good for them.
I really don't care what kind of exercise they do or what foods they eat or don't eat

I bet they eat less than 1000 a day, stay away from carbs, eat mostly salads or shakes, skip meals, maybe eat tissues, don't go to the gym - they're manic all the time.

They're stunning but it's not real life, my body type would never be that slight, no matter how much I exercised or ate

Yes, they are georgeous, with great figures; but I definately think it comes at a price. I'm sure many of them suffer from eating disorders, and almost definately skip meals. I'd say the average VS model probably eats no more thana 900 calories a day and probably cuts out most carbs as well. I can't remember which former VS model it was that I saw a while back talking about her ED on one of the talk shows. Some of them do look very tone, so I'm sure they do some kind of strength training. I'm also sure good Genes plays a huge part in it as well. Also, as other people on here have said, what you see is not what you get. There are a lot of tricks of the trade used to make those catalog pictures and commercials look flawless: lighting, breast enhancement tricks, pictures are photo shopped, etc. I'm sure these women are still very beautiful in person, but not the perfection you see in the pictures.

once you look like one it's relatively easy to maintain a nice figure. I had a model's body a few months ago, and i could eat like 2000 kcal a day and be active 3 times a week.

I saw an article awhile ago about a trainer who works with a lot of models (including lingerie models) and the types of workouts he has them do.

I think there is a huge misconception about these women that is further flamed by those who do not understand fitness or their industry. Couple things to keep in mind.

    1. Every one of them basically won the female genetic lottery based on beauty of our time. For a good majority of women, even if you follow their workouts and eating habits EXACTLY, you will never look like that.....ever. Your genetics just will not let that happen and there is nothing you can do about it.

    2. Most people out there assume they just do cardio. In reality, you will never have those bodies without a vigorous strength training program. I am sure there is a 1% of the 1% that do not have to do anything but I am sure most of those girls work their *kitten* off with both strength training AND cardio.

    3. Most people assume they have a eating disorder of some sort. This is likewise false. These women are professionals and have mastered an understanding for their bodies nutrition. I am positive most of them know their macros by heart and the exact affect of + or - the macros and what affect it will have on their body. Sure, some will go pretty extreme when they have a shoot coming up and will tweak their bodies but don't assume that is an eating disorder. They are pros, this is their job and they know how to prepare for it in regards of what and timing. How many people say Hugh Jackman has an eating disorder bc he eats 6000+ calories with heavy lifting to prepare for his wolverine role? I haven't seen anyone. In fact I see an article every other day talking about the dedication he has prepping for his role. He is a professional as are they. Same with pro athletes. Why is it ok for us to idolize them but not these models?

    4. Photoshop, camera angles, lighting all come into play. The companies hire a professional model AND professional staff. Do you think the lighting is just for decoration when they do their VS show on TV? Hell no, they have pros in there figuring this stuff out for months on end. It is a business. Expect it.

At the end of the day these women are sexy, beautiful, empowered, top of their industry professionals, and should be admired for everything they have worked their *kitten* of for.

I read an article a while back that some of them use chicken breasts/cutlets in their swimsuits.

Really? Really? They model for a famous lingerie line that makes about any kind of push up bra they could ever need, and they use chicken? That makes perfect sense.

Hahaha they don't use chicken in their swimsuits! They have these silcone things that they will put in their bras and swimsuits to give them more cleavage, drag queens use them too ;) Sometimes people will call them chicken cutlets because, well, that's what they look like.

To the OP: These models work their butts off, it is their job to do so. I'm sure they all do different things because each person has different needs. If you give your all during workouts and eat reasonably there is no way you won't be satisfied with your results :)

I would say they eat as much as they want, most likely around 1500 kcal, give or take a few hundred.

They are blessed with gorgeous faces and some with amazing skintones.

It's probably not the same for all VS models, but Adriana Lima is very fit and very much in shape. There are VS models who have had babies and are still hot. As for working out, I believe that they probably do a good amount of both cardio and weight training.

But also take in mind that this is their job, they work out probably 3 hours a day(at least before photoshoots or shows), maybe they go see nutritionists and they have to keep their skin looking good as well. They spend almost all their time to look good because that is what their job is.

    You're kidding right? :indifferent:

In my reality, an airbrushed chick standing under a bright light in her panties doesn't even hold a candle to women who have actually contributed to society and actually earned admiration: Mother Theresa, J.K. Rowling, Joan of Arc, Rosa Parks, Annie Sullivan, Harriet Tubman, Melinda Gates, Sacajawea, Eleanor Roosevelt, Indira Gandhi, Shirley Jackson, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, S.E. Hinton, Anne Frank, Helen Keller, Jane Addams, Molly Brown, Gertrude Stein, Georgia O'Keefe, Harper Lee, Germaine Greer, Dr. Ruth, Catherine the Great, Cleopatra, Margaret Thatcher, Amelia Earhardt, Florence Nightingale, Hypatia of Alexandria, Mya Angelou......

But yeah, no, we should certainly reserve our admiration for underwear models instead. :grumble:

I have no problem with admitting that they've been successful in their industry. Sadly it's the same industry that tells girls and young women that their bodies aren't good enough. That to be considered sexy, beautiful, and admirable they need to aspire to, what for many, is an unattainable standard.
