What about when the weight is gone?

I'm really worried that I will lose the weight, but it will be more like somebody stuck a vacuum inside me, and sucked out the fat, but the skin will still be 'hanging' around, if you know what I mean. I gained back the 40 lbs that I has spent a year working off in just a few months, and now that I'm starting to lose again (with diet and exercise) I'm noticing that things are changing shape, but that gravity is playing a part...I do NOT like this! I'm worried that I will lose the weight and will still have stuff hanging, and I can't afford to get surgery to take it off. Any thoughts? Can anyone else relate?

If you search through the topics, there was one yesterday about loose skin. You should be able to find the answers (and sarcasm) there.

I personally am not worried about it, because I'd rather be healthy with loose skin than unhealthy and fat. :)

    HEAVY LIFTING!! Just do it.
  • I can't relate, but I can imagine what it'd be like, and that would be frustrating.

Maybe take a moment to take an objective look at the whole picture though. If you lost weight, yes it would be for looks some, but not totally, it's also for health. The skin might (honestly probably will) stay around a bit, but the weight that was making things hard for you and your well-being will be gone. So maybe just look at that little positive piece.

As far as the extra skin does go though, you could always wear those undershirts and stuff that are shaping, not those horrid corsett type ones, but a more comfy one.

    I really don't know...

I just wanted you to have a reply.

Just know it's for your well-being, and you are entitled to your body and its health, even when it has extra skin.

Weights really work? I've hired a trainer and am doing weight training paired with LOTS of cardio...

I second evilonerider! Heavy lifting will build muscle to tighten up the skin!

If it's done at sensible pace your body will adapt and as you change shape the 'loose' bits will tighten up. If it was all just sucked out it would be empty sacs. If it's done so that it's getting burned then the body will adapt and 'suck it in' for us!

Just keep going nice and sensible as you're doing and the results will come - hang in there - we're not sprinting we're here for the long haul.

Slow and steady will end up being sustainable when you/we reach our goals - by then it's our lifestyle that's changed.

I think those people that go on these crash diets see results quickly then think this is easy then they cannot sustain the constant restriction or the milk shakes or whatever it is.

The truth is by doing as we are on here we realise we are what we eat and the more we eat the more likely we are to put weight on.

To lose 1lb of weight needs us to lose 3500 calories from our intake whether that be weekly or fortnightly - that's done by not easing as much each day around 500 calories or by increasing how much exercise we do to burn 500 calories. Burning it can be hard work but it will pay off.

The single best thing we can do is monitor it - as we do on here - log everything - if we want/fancy a chocolate bar or cake - not a problem have it, enjoy it, but log it. It's not a case of if we don't log it, it won't count!

"Start with the end in sight" - quote said by someone - Imagine yourself as you'd like to be and then put the plan in place to make it happen.

You are going to get there this time and you are going to be able to sustain it - this time is you're time - be proud and stand tall.

We'll keep you on track and motivated and you'll do the same for us.

"There's no I in team!"
