I'm not a beer girl; however, I hear that a glass of beer or wine a day has real health benefits. Personally, I prefer a good Bacardi Breezer (lots of sugar, I know)- and I will treat myself to one once in a while, making sure to track the calories like with any other food/beverage. I guess the only real "trick" is to account for it and not over-do it.0

I am also a beer drinker. Not one who buys a case of some cheap crap every friday, but I love a nice, usually dark, flavorful beer. I don't drink a lot, but when I do I want it to be quality. To allow myself this treat, I simply work it into my calorie intake for the day, and add a couple of glasses of water (per beer) to that day's intake. This isn't going to work for someone who wants to drink a /lot/, but if you really like beer (and I mean *beer* not bud light) then it should work for you.0

I was medically ordered to drink red wine. Yes, really. LOL my good cholesterol is low and since I already exercise and eat healthy they suggested red wine. I was VERY nervous about having some alcohol in my day. It's been fine. I have 4 ounces 3 - 4 times a week and just include the calories in my day. I make sure I measure it. Feel silly measuring it, but I measure my food why not my booze.0

I do rather like a beer myself
I think really as long as you're logging the drinks and drinking in moderation you shouldn't have too many problems. RTD's and Cocktails are a LOT higher than beer and wine.
If you go through the database you should be able to find some beers and work with that maybe?
There are a lot of places down here (New Zealand) that produce low calorie and/or low percentage beers, but I am loathe to suggest things to you in case you guys don't get them...
Where in the world are you?0 -

Seriously, excellent info and you can compare all types of alcohol. There are also plenty of sites that have compiled nutrition info for more kinds of beer than are on this site, just google beer calories. Plan it in and you'll be fine.0 -
My first beer that I started liking recently is called Pacifico Clara.
Before that I used to like only regular hard alcohol with mixers until I started liking wine which is probably my fave.
Low cals options.
Skinny margaritas (varies)
Wine (about 100-120 cals/glass)
Martini's (dirty)
Diet coke with rum and lime (yum)0 -
mmmm alcohol I usually just go for bud light when I want a beer but I hear natty light is actually the lightest calorie/alcohol content beer... but that's gross IMO..
I'm actually more of a vodka, tequila, or fireball drinker and I love my zero calorie mixers
Rootbeer vodka and diet coke or diet cream soda is amazing and takes like a rootbeer float
Tequila with sprite zero and a little dash of crystal light flavoring is awesome by the pool
and lastly my fireball with apple flavored seltzer water makes me a apple cinnamon hot mess in a dress...
most spirits are about 100 cals per shot (1.5 oz). Salud!0 -
I fit beer into my daily cals at least 3 times a week. At my age, I am not prone to complete benders, so it is relatively easy to budget for it. For low cal beers, I tend to stick with Amstel or Miller Lite. However, I really like good beer, so I will have that as well. They're not that many more calories than the lights anyway. One last tip - if you know you're gonna have some beer but want to stay in your calorie allotment, my nutritionist suggested giving up a bread or other wheat based serving to free up some calories. In short, go light on other carbs and have the extra beer :drinker:0

There's been a few threads on this before but IMO for what it's worth, I'd rather have one or two really tasty higher calorie craft beers than drink a crap load of blegh watery tasting low calorie beer. I tend to drink beers with more flavour slower and get much more enjoyment out of them. You can definitely fit them into your plan.0

I'd rather fit beer into my macros like I do for everything else. That means I want something that tastes good, and I'll consume it in moderation, but I'm not sacrificing flavor under any circumstances.
That said, Guinness and Yuengling Black & Tan are good choices if you want to moderate calories but still have flavor. Of course, I mainly drink IPAs, so I have to carefully plan around them as they're definitely not low calorie.0 -
I always worked in a little alcohol/beer calories into my day occasionally while losing. Especially if I had eaten a lot of veggies, etc. and was need a few extra calories at the end of the day, I would work in a glass of wine. Beer, not as often and it seems , for me, beer would slow my weight loss more than wine did, but I still would have about 1 a week or so, sometimes more. If you make sure your not going too much over your calories, and are still moving more than you are consuming a little beer or alcohol is fine. Life is for living!0

I drank a beer or cocktail almost daily the entire time I was losing weight. You just have to allow for the calories.
I'm not a binge drinker, and I am careful with measuring and consuming, just like I am with any other treat. If you want it, you work it into your daily calorie goal.0 -
I make excellent beer/ and judge craft beer events. My motto is smell, taste, but DO NOT SWALLOW!0

Sad but true, my 60 pound weight loss has not really had room for alchohol. However we are camping as we speak, and I an "fitting" it in.
I like beer and have never been a spirits drinker. So, after much research this is what I've settled on for an adult beverage.
1.2 oz vodka, 3oz. club soda, squeeze of lime. 97 calories0 -

Ooops, that would be 1.5 oz vodka0 -
People who stop drinking at 10pm because they "don't have the points" are the scum of the earth. But, people who constantly rearrange their diet around drinking are hopeless idiots. Just drink a few beers and don't worry about it. If your diet is good and you're exercising enough you will be fine.0

Ugh, I can't stand beer, so this isn't an issue for me. However, I almost drank a whole bottle of rose last week.0

I love a beer every now and again though admittedly I will drink something like a corona as its relatively low in comparison to others whilst I'm being conscious of calories. But generally I drink wine or gin and slimline tonic or whiskey and diet coke to go for lowest cal options that I like. Nicer in the warm weather too :-)0
