how many calories you should be eating

do you lower the calories as you get close to your goal or do you keep the calories the same the whole entire time. I am 2/3 way to my goal but noticing the weight is coming off a lot slower than before.

After some experimentation and some helpful advice from someone on here I eat at my resting metabolic rate and kick *kitten* at the gym. I am loosing again after loosing and then gaining at 1200. Obviously as you get thinner it's going to slow down so just keep tracking and see what your body does at different numbers. That's my ammature opinion!

Your BMR decreases as you lose weight and the same exercise will burn fewer calories since your are moving less weight. It is normal to lose weight slower as you approach goal weight. That is why a 350 lb person will burn more calories walking a mile than somebody weighing 150 lbs.

The only way to counteract this is to burn more -- longer duration of exercise or more intensity. You could cut back on calories but I think it would be more productive to burn more.

Getting closer to your goal, it will most likely be a slower process and re-evaluation of your calorie needs is a good idea.
  • When my weight loss slows down I lower my calorie intake by 100, it always works.

The best way to lose the last few pounds is to do it "slowly". Another best advise i have learnt around here is to weight train(sorry if you already do this). You can slowly lose fat and retain your LBM and definetly eat more :)
Good luck and great job thus far
