Running NSV

Just ran my first sub-27 minute 5k this morning.

I'd like to thank the C25k program, my doctor, and New Balance shoes for making this possible

How long did it take you? It take me 55 minutes to run a 5K. I feel so slow.

Awesome! That is fantastic! I still haven't been able to do that outside or in a timed "race". I can pull it off on the indoor track, but not outside. Hope to join you soon!

Short answer, I guess it's been about a year from the couch at 220 pounds to this point.

I started walking seriously in September of last year, then started the C25k late November (I think). Graduated in March after repeating a couple of weeks. Hit my first goal of a 30 minute 5k on the treadmill sometime around May, I guess, and then started running outside.

But don't compare your time to mine, or anyone else's. The point is that you're off the couch, and taking positive steps for your health. Keep taking baby steps, and keep improving, and that makes you every bit as 'good' as anyone else treading this road.

You're still faster than the people sat on their backsides! As stumblinthru said, don't compare your time to other people's, just focus on what you're doing. If you want to try speeding up a bit, there are running programmes to help, e.g. c25k, asics online.

Well done to stumblinthru as well, always feels good to smash a goal.
