Raspberries mixed with a little bit of the syrup. Raspberries have higher fiber than the other berries.0

What about mashed cauliflower?
dammit bill.
i was going to suggest cauliflower maple reduction.0 -
The idea of replacing REAL amazing maple syrup with anything (especially log cabin) kinda hurts my soul.
Nope... I posted bacon. By default bacon makes everything ok.0 -

Because I am craving french toast
I am up for suggestions for some lower carb breakfast ideas as well, however
Just eat the French Toast and don't worry about the carbs if it fits your calorie goal, it's not like you eat it everyday!0 -

If you're really concerned about carbs, don't eat french toast?? Try eggs instead!0

Smuckers makes sugar free jams. I like the strawberry preserve it has 4 carbs for 2 Tbsp.0

Bacon...or butter..or both together preferably also smothered with maple syrup.
French toast is not French toast without the syrup.0 -

Don't have time to read through the whole thread, but just in case no one else has suggested this, thawed, pureed berries like strawberries work well for us. You'll likely want to add some type of sweetener. I add stevia.0

The point would be fewer carbs.
I've tried a bunch of them and I think that "Log Cabin" sugar-free tastes the best and is reasonably thick.
Stop it...I can't decide if you're making me LMFAO or cry....0 -
You know... I'm looking through these alternatives being suggested, and I'm not seeing anything that is less carbs than the syrup. Maybe there is options with less sugar and more fiber, but if carbs are your concern, you might as well just eat the syrup.0

Since you're already eating the French Toast, I really wouldn't concern myself with a low carb topping...really, what's the point? My personal preference would be natural maple syrup...satisfy my craving and call it a day and get back on the low carb wagon tomorrow.
because there's a different between 45g of carbs in the toast, and 120 carbs in whipped topping...
My point would be that if you're watching your carbs then this whole thread is full of ridiculous....0 -
didn't log it... didn't happen0

Okay... I checked out the nutrition on sugar-free syrup. You could do that and would have no additional carbs to your carb-o-rific French toast. However, a fruit topping is going to have just as many carbs as a regular syrup.
Personally, I replaced my maple syrup with sugar-free a long time ago. But to save on calories, not carbs.0 -
^^ This is what my husband uses because he is diabetic.0 -

No, it isn't. This is exactly the all or nothing attitude that will see 90% of the people here now, back here in 18 months with all their weight to lose AGAIN. If I"m going to eat a calorie dense meal at McDonald's I still get a diet coke, because why add unecessary calories? You don't have to be at one end of the specrum the entire time. it's comfy in the middle too.
And to the OP, I've seen some SF syrups at Walmart in the diabetic section of the pharmacy. Maybe give those a try? I personally smash berries that might be too wrinkley to eat but still good in a little pot. Add a TBSP of real maple syrup and stir in 1TBS chia and it thickens up really nicely. It's still sweet, but not AS SWEET as something liek aunt jemima etc. It's pretty great on waffles, Im sure french toast would be good with it too.0 -
didn't read, so sorry if this was mentioned already. walden farms maple syrup (they have other flavors, too, like caramel, chocolate, etc.) it's got zero calories. you can buy it from iherb.com0

He was speaking to the redundancy of attempting to de-carb French toast. As I said previously, berries actually have more carbs than maple syrup. And if you are adding a TBSP of maple syrup, that's like a half portion of syrup, so you're actually coming out with even more carbs.0 -

Not even close. The berry syrup I make makes 8 1/4 cup portions and it's 25 calories, 6g carb 2 of which are fibre. Maple syrup for 3TBS (which is 1 shy of a quarter cup) is 167 calories and 42 carbs ZERO of which are fibre. So I'm not sure if you're comparing to jam?0 -

Well maybe it's portions that make the difference, but a cup of raspberries is 15g of carbs and a tbsp of maple syrup is only 13g of carbs.0
