Plateau

I have been working out and counting calories since June and have since lost 13 pounds. But the past two and a half weeks my weight has remained the same. I am trying to loose 10 more pounds by December. I am exercising 3-5 times a week and eat between 1200-1400 calories a day. What can I do to restart my metabolism and get the weight loss going again? Thanks
Rachel

When you say "working out" does that include weights? If so it could be that you are just gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Keep a check on your measurements to see if you are losing inches.0

I am having the same problem, I have lost 31lbs since May but for the last 2-3 weeks, nothing. I eat between 1200-1400 calories and work out for an hour at least 5 times a week. I think i am still loosing inches but the scale wont budge. I would love to hear some suggestions from people who have been here. I want to loose at least 40 more lbs.0

I have noticed too that when I change up my diet I drop more weight. Eat things that you won't normally eat, (something that you have recently cut out of your diet). Don't go crazy on it but have some. I have been amazed that has helped me drop a couple of pounds when I was at a plateau. I had a hamburger from wendys or a taco from taco bell, but only once in the week, not every day. It shocks your system and I have seen results doing that.0

Eat more. It is hard to lose the last 10 pounds. Try changing your goal to lose 1 pound per week, this will give you more calories to fuel your workouts. Also try to eat at least half of you exercise calories back. It sounds strange but you have to eat more to lose more.0

Just have to say Good for you Resptech97 for losing 75 lbs!!! Way to go, I'm impressed!!0 -
I agree that you may need to eat a little more. If you have been at this a while, you have probably gained some lean mass that needs to be fed more lean food. I went through this one time before, and when I increased my calories slightly, the weight started to drop again.
Also, you can change your exercises a little. Add more intensity to the cardio, increase your weights or reps on the strength training...or even take up a new activity. Oftentimes when people change their workouts, the plateau is broken.
Or, you might want to do both.0 -

That's exactly what my husband said:) I do some weights. I do the Jillian Michael's DVDS- 30 Day Shred (uses 3 lb weights for some exercises), Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism (no weights) and No More Trouble Zones (use 3 lb weights for some exercises). I am trying to focus on how my clothes fit but when you are investing so much time and energy it gets frustrating when you aren't loosing. Thanks for your comment:)0 -
I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I am going through the same thing right now. I dont know if I am at a plateau or if I am just gaining muscle. Tomorrow I am going to measure. Then wait a week or so and measure again to see if I am losing inches.0
