Turkey patty melt on rye, havarti cheese.0 -
Vegan chili-lots of veggies I stewed with plenty of seasonings, cumin and chili powder. I added some fresh garlic as well. After I cooked down all the veggies, I added a can of black beans. I only used a bit of water to cook the veggies in, the fresh tomato produces enough juices that you don't need to add broth or sauce. Also I made a homemade pico de gallo and added a big spoonful for the onion and cilantra that it adds to the dish.0 -

Marinated tofu (balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, lavender, rosemary, thyme, oregano), dry-pan "fried", with balsamic mushrooms, and polenta.

Love this thread. Lots of great ideas. I'm just learning to cook now (at the age of 27!), up until recently I only 'cooked' bread and fish fingers

Chicken fajita on a wholemeal tortilla, with vegetables and a watercress and spinach salad.
Quinoa, peppers and tomatoes with a grilled quorn fillet and halloumi.

Porkolt.
Onion, garlic, green pepper.
Casserole steak, but you can do this with any meat. Trim it of any extra fat (I did after pic taking).
Beef[steak] tomato.
Sauté your onion, garlic & green pepper in a bit of oil. Add in your meat to sear it, once it's brown add in 2-3 tbsp of paprika. Smoked or sweet (Hungarian). Add in the tomato.
And watah to almost submerge the meat.
Simmer with a lid on for an hour or two. Stir in a bit of chopped coriander right before serving. Serve with brown rice.
Cheap, easy & delicious.0 -

THe fact that you served this over rice instead of nokedli or tarhonya makes me want to cry!0 -

Haha. Not authentic, I know, but I've never made nokedli and it scares me a little bit. It was lovely with brown rice, and I've been told it's really great with buckwheat.
I also forgot to mention I used caraway seeds. I suppose it's more Czech than Hungarian in that regard.0 -
