eating enough?

I kind of have a couple questions that go together if anyone could help I would appreciate it. mfp has me eating 1370 cals a day to lose weight, I have trouble hitting that many especially on the days I go to the gym. is this an issue for my weight loss? also does it matter what I eat as long as it doesn't put me over my daily cals?

It's best to hit your calorie goal more often than not. It already has your weight loss goal built in. Make sure to weigh and measure your food so you're being accurate and if you still find your having issues try adding in more calorie dense foods like nuts, nut butters, oils, avocado, etc. Small amounts will raise your calories without making you feel stuffed. I've lost the majority of my weight so far eating whatever. Sometimes it's healthier than other times, but as long as I stay within my calorie goal I can still lose weight.
  • Im a little the same I'm always ~200cal under that MFP mark. I'm not starving myself i just don't eat a lot, and just switched bad stuff for good stuff. On days where i do sport and gym i try to eat a bit more or treat myself but like yourself i struggle with hitting the mark too.

I'm losing weight though and feeling better then i ever have. I've lost 4kg in the past 3 weeks. And set mfp for 1kg/week so its around that.

Interesting to see what others say.

1300 calories is your preworkout amount. Exercise requires more calories. Also, just eat higher calorie foods such as nuts, cheese, avocado, protein bars or shakes, cook foods in evoo or go to town on a peanut butter jar. Heck drink some calories if you have to or eat some ice cream. More Importantly try not to define food as good or bad. Calories are very important, especially proteins. Heck look at Olympic athletes.... they have to eat pizza and crap just to hit their calorie goals so they can perform. In the end calorie in > a clean diet.

I always have that problem, but by not eating enough, my body is storing my weight. Tonight, I have to eat 600 more calories, and healthily by the way, to get close to what my net calories need to be. You run the risk of your body kicking into starvation mode and storing fat, rather than burning it. I missed breakfast today. It happened for many reasons. I forget to eat and I go into what I call "beyond hunger".

I'm going to find some dense caloric food to bring my calories up for the day.

It's so important to eat enough, if you don't you can slow down your metabolism and get really frustrated. Do a search on this topic and you'll get great info.
