DASH DIET

Options
Hello All,

I have struggled with my weight for a while, I think I carry it well so now i'm fed up and I want to make a change and I will make a change. I live with my mother and me and her have started eating better on a diet called the Dash Diet, even though we have been going for about 2 weeks now I seem to not be able to get out of the Phase 1 portion of the diet. I wanted see if anyone has used this diet before and can map out a 14 day menu example that I can use to get through my first phase of the diet.

Any response would help, I think I just need support.

Having read http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dash-diet/HI00047 to learn about what a DASH diet it, it seems to be just healthy eating with keeping sodium under control. If you haven't checked out the Mayo Clinic's info on the DASH diet, there seems to be lots of good recommendations there including suggested sample menus at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dash-diet/HI00046.

Note that the DASH diet itself is not for weight loss unless you also limit calories. You could combine the DASH way of eating with a calorie target of TDEE-20% and lose weight.

I'm not sure what you mean by phase 1 although the Mayo site does talk about working into the plan gradually.

posting a link to where I commented originally http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1065413-dash-diet?page=1#posts-16593917

I have been on DASH officially for 5 days, today being my 5th full day. I have lost 1 inch off my waist and 11.5 pounds since I weighed last Monday. It's not easy if you're a carb junkie like I was. But there is no calorie counting and I like that and the only thing you really have to weigh is the protein (meat) that you get every day.

Feel free to friend me if you want to!
