Beginners Challenge.... 50 miles in August

Been a couple days since I've updated:
W10d3 of c210k... Almost 5 miles
Quick 2 mile run when new leash for pup came from Amazon...once she saw it we HAD to go

I am still shocked when I type these distances out. Just a couple of months ago the though of running for 2 mins straight sounded like torture!

I'm already over 100 miles for August, assuming I can count walking and hiking. I joined this thread way late, but I just wanted to take part
FWIW, I think my fitbit (which is my primary source of distance calculation) has been shorting me distance due to an uncalibrated stride length. I used a GPS today on my hike and it was almost 50% higher than the fitibit... I think I may be approaching 150 miles and we still have almost 2 weeks left!0 -

I'm at 90 miles here in Afghanistan. I ran 5 miles per day, less a few travel days. 5 miles in 38 minutes..not bad. I am running a marathon (26.2 miles) here in October. Good luck with your challenge. Be sure to stretch out and warm up before running to reduce injury. I am going to bump myself up to 7 miles, 1 mile more a week until I get to 10 miles a day. It takes dedication, correct diet and most importantly practice. Additionally, a treadmill is not a really good factor for the real thing i.e. on the road running. I used to run on the treadmill and when it came time for actual running on pavement, I was noticeably slower due to the belt that is already moving and your legs do not get the strength from actual push off of your body weight like on pavement.0
