You can safely juice your meals!! http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/0

I personally find that I am just hungrier when I do stuff like this - thus turning me in to a cranky b*tch and binging when I finally do eat but hey, if it is short term and your thing - good luck!0

I figured I'd add a little input.
I am one of those that saw the documentary and had my interest piqued. I bought a decent juicer, a ton of vegetables and started a 3 day juice only cycle. It was easy. The juices are delicious, fresh, and my energy was up. This was just enough time to break me out of this cycle where I was drinking a lot of beer and eating poorly, but couldn't stop.
Afterwards I went to a process where I'm juicing my breakfast/lunch and then eating normally for dinner. When I work out, I have a protein shake. I naturally detest eating prior to about 1pm, so juicing in the morning is actually a lot nicer than drinking coffee. My juices tend to be:
Carrot, kale, ginger, parsley or cilantro, a lime, an apple (sometimes)
Or I'll go with a variant:
Carrot, kale, ginger, cucumber, parsley or cilantro, red bell pepper, broccoli
It's just fresh and delicious. I go into the gym, have a lot more energy than normal to crush it, then I go home and take two or three scoops of protein.
One thing I did do on day 4 of my 3 day juicing project, I added hot sauce and olive oil to my juice in order to increase caloric density as well as add some nice flavor. Was good, I'll probably do a 5 day for kicks later.1 -
I started juicing again, due to poor diet and no energy after intense workouts and i feel great after 3 days . I use the ninja and use a paint strainer to remove the pulp ( fiber)
I feel amazing... I a life style that is very adaptable !!! Thanks to this moving .....INSPIRATION:

Wonderful and inspirational .... Inspired me too0

I absolutely don't understand juicing. Why not eat the whole fruit/plant/veggie instead? You'll get more fiber and will fill full longer. And 800/1200 calories a day is nowhere near enough, unless you want to crash diet to lose some weight fast and don't mind gaining it all back as soon as you stop.0

so i got a question for someone, i do Insanity and load trucks for 4 hours a day is juicing good for someone like me that does physical work like this? I weigh 170 and i am 5'3 so i know i need to lose my belly that is where all my weight is i have toned legs and arms. Insanity and p90x helped me out a lot. What should i do just stick to eating low cal? I hear that juicing seperates the fiber and i hear so many different things. good not good. Please input0

I started juicing a few weeks ago and have lost 16 pounds. I tend to have an extra hard time losing weight, I'll diet and exercise with no results. Sadly, I usually give up. Juicing is the first thing I've ever done and am really seeing results now! I am planning the one-meal-a-day-juice-fast-the-rest diet. I cannot stand eating heavy when I wake up so this is perfect for me. I still have such a long way to go that when I think about it, it's a bit disheartening. I have herniated disc in my back so I can't workout like I would like to so diet is very important. Good luck to everyone!0

Pretty controversial esp here but juicing works0

I just started juicing. It seems that the juice isn't enough calories to lose weight. I still eat low carb and good fats with lean protein. I guess it depends on you...Good luck!0
-
As long as you are getting the nutrients - and juicing is a great way to do that - and only do it for a short period, then I think it sounds fine. If you feel weak though, your body is telling you it's not doing good, and you should eat more food. Good luck0

I'd rather drink a protein shake than a carb juice.
Most fruits are loaded with natural sugars, which are still carbs. Prepare to lose muscle mass and not a lot of body fat.0 -
I'm doing JUDDD. One day of fasting on 500 -600 calories by drinking protein shskes. The next day eat what you want up to 2000 calories with in reason. My up days have been around 1500 to 1600. Good resaearch on this plan Check it out. There is also a site for JUDDD on MFP.0

I think it's OK because I talked with my doctor and he said just two meals a day would be healthy for you, how could it not be?
You are actually getting more nutrition this was and it's the micronutrients that we miss with our basic everyday diets. You would get an abundance in this.
Oh yes, you have to not be on any meds and be considered healthy now in order for this to be an OK thing as well.
I am assuming you are?
I would go talk with your doctor and he knows best for you, let him guide you in this.
I only ate one meal a day for a few days just to kick start me in weight loss (mainly fluid loss) and my doc approved, said I had enough body fat that my body had sense enough to pull on the foods stores from it that it wouldn't hurt me one bit!
Trust in your body to know what it's doing over what anyone (that's not a doctor) with a so called expert opinion has to say to you.
YOU take care of YOU and listen to your doctor, he will guide you through such as this without any ill effects
Good luck in your weight loss!0 -
Me too! It is so ironic, I just watched it again this morning on my Netflix. Trust me, she can't go wrong with this, she can only improve her health!0

VERY GOOD ANALOGY AND HELPFUL ADVICE.0

Pretty controversial esp here but juicing works
of course it works- you are cutting out boat loads of calories.
But that doesn't mean it's healthy or sustainable.0 -
It would be around 800 cals a day for a few days and then jump back up to 1200 for a few days and then back to 800 and so on and so on...
I love how you say "jump back up to 1200" like it's enough.
You silly women and the idiotic things you do to lose weight.
Some women do legit things to lose weight thank you very much!!! I have to go, time to get this body wrap off.0 -
I have a habit of squeezing in some fresh squeezed vegetable juice for dinner but never two meals. At least cut up an avocado, add some protein powder and milk for one meal, you can get 400-800 a shake if you do it right plus you get a lot of fat and protein!0

i might be in a different camp than most other people. if you're doing it for the $$ then go for it if you're healthy. it's a short term solution to weight loss but $4k is nothing to sneeze at.
but i wouldnt call this healthy nor would i expect to see any long term effects from this especially if you go back to regular eating afterwards0 -
You may find it interesting to look into two things:
1. the big debate about fructose and it's highly probable link to the wave of obesity in Western cultures
2. the idea of intermittent fasting
SHORT STORY
Obese husband has gastric band surgery. Husband loses 20+ kilos. Husband starts to plateau, still gets cravings for food, and worse still weight starts creeping back on. Wife (me) looks into the no-sugar debate. We go no-sugar, using recipes from David Gillespie and reading every tiny label on every product and re-introducing more fresh food to our diets. Both start to lose noticeable kilos, then once again the plateau. UNTIL ...
We see a doco about intermittent fasting which we are now doing - 2 non-consecutive days each week. This is working. Even without adding much exercise (so far) which will improve, I dropped 3 kilos since October and hubby 6 kilos.
The thing about juicing is it removes fibre which helps protect you from the fructose hit from some of the things you reduce to juice. We bought a fancy-pants juicer on the strength of reading about the guy who produce the 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead' video. He used juicing to lose masses of weight, but I suspect you have to go with mostly vegetables. Something to look in to.0
