I am with you on loving ranch. You can still have it.
mix
1 cup of low fat mayonnaise
1 cup of 1% milk
1 packet of hidden valley ranch dressing and seasoning mix
put in refridgerator for 30-60 minutes
Only like 12 cal a tablespoon
If you are looking for something new balsamic is really good.
I also like mixing salad spritzers like ranch and balsamic from wishbone.0 -
I'm also a big fan of Bolthouse Ranch. It doesn't taste "light" or "diety" to me at all.0

Equal parts EVOO and lemon juice, fresh/minced garlic, salt and pepper.0

I still eat the ranch. I just use a trick I read about. Instead of putting the dressing on your salad, put it in a small dish to the side. Then, dip your fork into it before taking a bite. That way, you'll get just what you need. Not all the extra.0

I use balsamic vinegar and olive oil, with a dash of Italian seasoning. It's delicious!
This. Or olive oil and any citrus fruit really.0 -
TBH I'm also a greek yoghurt freak, I'll have it with pretty much everything, and I use it by itself as a dressing.0

If you live near a Trader Joe's I love their Champagne Pear Gorgonzola Vinaigrette
I also make my own dressing with different types of vinegar and oils -- depending on the salad.
I have made honey mustard dressing using honey, mustard, and light sour cream (dash of vinegar to thin it out to dressing consistency)
Rice Vinegar and Sesame Oil for Asian Style Salads
Salsa and sour cream mix for Southwestern/Mexican style salads
You can search for and find a ton of easy to make dressings which are way better than the store bought fat free stuff.0 -

Kens or Newmans Own Lite Raspberry Vinaigrette; LOVE IT!!!!0

I love the tartness of balsalmic vinegar, so I use that with a little olive oil for salad dressing. If I don't have any balsalmic I will use rice vinegar.
This. I also like to use balsamic with a good amount of pepper or chili flakes.0 -

I make a light ranch with one part buttermilk to one part mayo. You could reduce the mayo or replace some of it with low fat yoghurt to further reduce calories. Season with garlic powder, salt, and herbs such as oregano. It's lighter than classic vinaigrette which is 3 parts olive oil to 1 part vinegar.0

Homemade Ranch Dressing
2011 Ree Drummond, All Rights Reserved
Prep Time:15 minInactive Prep Time:2 hr 0 minCook Time: --
Level:
Easy
Serves:
8 servings
Ingredients
1 clove garlic
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup real mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup Italian flat-leaf parsley leaves, minced
2 tablespoons fresh dill, minced
1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Dash hot sauce
1/4 to 1/2 cup buttermilk (as needed for desired consistency)
Directions
Mince the garlic with a knife and then sprinkle on the salt and mash it into a paste with a fork.
In a bowl, combine the garlic paste, mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, dill, chives, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, vinegar, paprika, cayenne and hot sauce. Add the buttermilk to desired consistency and mix to combine, tasting frequently and adjusting seasonings as needed. Chill for a couple of hours before serving, thinning with more buttermilk if needed.
Make your own. Perhaps use greek yogurt instead of sour cream. I altered my recipe to use veganaise instead of mayo (i like it better). I did use sour cream though. No chives cause I didn't have any. And i replced the wine vinegar with a little bit of lemon. Delicious. Couldn't be that many calories.
Also, mix your salads at home in a bowl with the dressing then put on a plate. You'll use less dressing that way.0 -

I love straight up olive oil! But, I imagine I will branch out into making my own simple salad dressings at home. There are lots and lots of recipes for salad dressing on Allrecipes.com. Good luck!0
