Hazelnut butter ( not nutella ) is super good. I can only make it during the christmas time though because I can only find hazelnuts around that time ):

OOOOHH, had to reply to this one.

Guilty! As charged. No apologies.

Peanut butter is amazing. Almond butter always puts a pep in my step. BUT.

The real KING of nut butters? Get ready....

CASHEW butter. I live and die for the stuff. (Ok, not really, that would be weird. But kind of not. ) It's like...angels singing, blah blah blah...basically nut butter that tastes like...cookie dough? Yep. Total yum. :drinker:

I used to be obsessed with peanut butter! But I didn't like the natural kind very much, and the processed kind isn't that good for you. Plus, peanuts aren't great for weight loss. My favorite is raw almond butter. Omg it's so delicious!

    Sources?

I have peanut butter once a day. It's all about that calorie deficit.

It has nothing to do with the calories or fat content. That's why I eat almond butter-it's still 180 calories and 16 grams of fat for 2 tablespoons. It has the possibility of affecting your thyroid gland than other nuts--and I have had thyroid problems in the past. I probably should have worded it differently--it effects MY weight loss. And almonds are naturally better for you. If you're eating all natural peanut butter, all the power to you. But I personally didn't like the taste. And peanut butter from brands like Jif and Skippy aren't worth it, to me. :)

In the future, make sure not to imply that peanuts are not good for weight loss for everyone else. If you can pinpoint peanut butter/peanuts to being a problem for you, that's your prerogative.

    Honey---that's what I just said....

That I meant to word it differently. Don't really need you reiterating for me, but thanks anyway.
Actually there a few trainers who suggest no peanuts.

I regularly eat peanut and almond butter by the spoon. Love when those long training runs let me do it.
  • I've been making my own cashew butter, and it's DIVINE!!

I love almond butter sooooo much! I also admit to being a huge fan of Nutella, but almond butter is, hands down, my favorite!
  • This is torture. I'm SUCH a nut-butter fanatic! Nothing creamy though (like the Jiff variety they sell here too), but only organic stuff. Cashew, peanut, almond.. tahin paste is awesome too!

So am I going to be the Debbie downer to say that peanut butter technically isn't a nut butter? I still love peanut butter but I am branching out more this year trying all the other types more. Also if you wanted to get technical about nutrition peanut butter isn't as nutritious relative to most other nut butters. Most of it is due to all the crap producers do it the peanuts by the time it gets on the shelves. They contain aflotoxins which cause cancer (what doesn't cause cancer these days though) and the cheap mainstream brands contain trans fats. Also roasting nuts in general usually causes their natural fats to become rancid and oxidize. So keep your eyes out for raw nut butters if you see any. The natural fats in them should still be stable and in their natural form with all their benefits that everyone hears about.

Seems like most food producers grab a hold of a healthy benefit to a food and advertise the hell out of it but their end product usually has all of it stripped away by the time their done making the product.

I am so sad that I'm allergic to almonds because they are delicious and I can't have almond butter without taking a handful of Benadryl.

I'm going to have to investigate this magical pistachio butter.

I prefer just plain ol' peanut butter.

But I switch it up every once in a while with almond or cashew butter.

I tried sunflower seed butter - blech!

    NUT BUTTER LOVER HERE!

I personally make my own (DIY/homemade):

    ❤ almond butter

    ❤ pecan butter

    ❤ walnut butter

I also make them in optional variety of flavors too:

    ● added vegan dark chocolate chips

    ● vanilla

    ● vegan white chocolate

    ● chocolate

    ● added vegan white chocolate chips

Unfortunately, these are the ONLY 3 nuts that i'm not allergic to *sigh*.
