After getting injured during an earlier c25K attempt, I have started W1D1 on Tuesday! Tomorrow morning will be W1D2 for me.. I'll make sure that I'll check out the group!0

My husband and I are doing C25K together. We just finished WK 4 Day 3 last night. We have been doing each week twice (at my request) and it is working out great so far. We were running every other day and walking every other day, but I had to slow my running down to every two days because my right shin throbs after running. I find it helps to have an extra day of rest. We are planning to do our first 5K on October 20 and then our hopefully our 2nd is the Biggest Loser Run/Walk off road in November at Fenway Park. Good Luck to everyone. I am finding that I look forward to running with the exception of the shin pain.

Started C25K program today! Doing this with the wife, so my pace is much slower than it would be if I were solo. But just the same, we're doing it!0

I had originally signed up for a 5K for the end of October but after reading that some of you were signing up for one 7 weeks out I just went ahead and signed up for my first one on October 6th so its exactly 6 weeks from Sunday. That means I'll be on week 7 of the couch to 5K by then. I would really love to run it all without walking. Not sure if I am giving myself enough time. I am doing my during the week runs on the treadmill (I have to do them early morning and my husband is already gone to work so I need to do them in the house with my son still sleeping). I would like to do a weekend run outside and maybe one during the week outside if I can swing it in the evenings.
Heading out today to buy a holder for my son's IPOD touch so I can use the app.
Ryan good luck to you in your 5K at the weekend.
I am inspired by those of you that have now moved on to training for a 10K. So awesome that you are sticking with it.0 -
So far, so good! Am on w2D3 tomorrow morning using the treadmill, but did an extra run outside today, with a training buddy who does a lot of running to keep me going and motivated. I wanted to see how far I could get non-stop and managed almost 3k on hilly, island coast path
I am really chuffed with that as I have never been a runner and at 62-y-o have shed 40lbs in just under 2 years, with about another stone to go until I get to my target weight.
This programme is giving me the encouragement to keep going and I am looking forward to the next few weeks on C25K. Is that normal or just masochistic?0 -
I am on week 4 workout 3. It is a wonderful challenge and I look forward to my 3 nights a week running and am mad I can't run every day! I try and do some sort of other activity every day I don't run - walk, bike, whatever! I have a chart on the fridge to hold me accountable and the ap on my phone. My knees hurt A LOT, but I ice and ibuprofen immediately when I'm done. I feel on top of the world, even if I am super tired and sore each time I am done. I am going to be done Sep 20, or thereabouts, and run my first 5K Oct 5... It's tough, but you can do it. I listen to loud music, that helps me A TON!!! And I vary my run locations so I don't know "exactly how long is it" till I walking again from a run/jog. Also, now that I can do it for more than 90 seconds I've set about trying to beat my previous best time each workout. I am a sucker for Endomondo trophies (I run Endomondo in the background and the C25K lite (free version) in the foreground...)0

Sorry, double posted.0

I tried Couch to 5K, but I also liked RunDouble
But how accurate are the reported calories? I used the program for the first time this morning while wearing a heart rate monitor. C25K W1D2. The calories given by RunDouble were way, way below what the HRM showed. Even if I allow for the HRM being way too high it is still more than twice that reported by RD.0 -
Today is the start of week 3 for me. I am using the treadmill programme and have been getting in the 3 sessions a week successfully so far. This morning I was up early (6 am) and wanted to go to the gym, but there was no chance of it being open at that time on a Sunday, so I went for a road run instead and managed about 2.5 miles before my legs turned to jelly. Why is going downhill worse than running up a slope?
Anyway, I still hope to get to the gym later in the afternoon to try Wk3 Day1 and tick it off on my schedule. If not, I will definitely be there tomorrow morning0 -
I didn't but always thought to. Anyway on Friday I just got in my car and told myself I'm doing it and I made it the whole way! So proud and shocked. Thought I'd be struggling for breath.0

I've been doing C25K for about a 5 weeks but have taken a break this last week and am trying out those Slim in 6 videos...I'll start running this week again though, I miss being outdoors. I believe this next jogging session is a full 20 min run?...I'll back track a couple of sessions first to build myself up again. It's a great little app...xx0

I'm doing the last week 1 run tomorrow, then on to week 2. Running alternate days. I've used the app to learn to run before - and got to doing half marathons before I had to stop running for a while (calf tear), and the wheels fell off. Starting over, and still loving running. I have a very pressured job, that requires that I work very long hours, and is very sedentary, so it's always a bit of a challenge getting fitness in.
What would you like to do with the thread? Just update when we run?0 -
I'm on W1D3 today! I've never ran before and I'm asthmatic. So long so good though0

I am trying to find the time to complete day 3 week 3. I hope to run my first 5k in November.0

I have downloaded the ap.......I have been afraid to try it. I am not really a runner but I want to be.
I just have to get moving!!!!!!0 -
i just started C25K for the first time a few weeks ago. I am on W4D2. I love the program when i started i could not jog the 60 sec. I am having problems with the 2nd 5 min jog on week 4 but am sure by the end of next week i will be completing it like the others! We have a 5K planned for Oct 27 the zombie chase. and run or dye is coming to town we want to do that also so these are my goals!0

go for it... i was in the same situation have never run before at all.... i am loving it so far! it is so peaceful and time seems to fly by.0 -
I started the c25k a few weeks ago also. Tomorrow I start week 4. I did yesterdays run/walk after a 22 mile bike ride. I thought I would be in pain and exhausted but I wasn't. I am 58 years old and am taking it slow. I may do week 4 twice, depending on how well I do. So far I feel great. I see older men out running on the trail, but I never see older women running, just walking.0

So on Saturday we did Week 5 day 2, it's an 8 minute run, 5 min walk, 8 min run. I am embarrassed to say that I wasn't able to finish the 2nd 8 min run, I made it to about 6 mins and I just couldn't run anymore. I have to stop telling myself I can't do this and tell me myself that I can. I plan to do week 5 day 2 over again today and this time I WILL do it!0
-
Finished week 1 today. Will start week 2 tomorrow. Feeling good so far. Looking forward to getting to the longer intervals. I really miss running good distances.0
-
I started last week but was away for the weekend. I will be doing WK1D3 tonight.0

Finished wk 5 day 2. Yay! Day 3 really scares me.0

Keep is slow and steady and you will do fine! You are ready for this!!0 -
Thanks! I remember Week 1, that seemed like the longest minute ever. You can't help but to be proud of yourself as you make accomplishments along the way. I really love this program.0
-
I had to give up running due to plantar fasciitis but think i'm ready to try again and take it slow so I'm going to start over tonight with Couch to 5K0
-
I'm starting Week 2, Day 1 tonight (hoping that I wont be too tired to do it tonight). I would really prefer to run outside on the road tonight but if I have to leave it until tomorrow morning I will be stuck on the treadmill which I dont like as much.0

I did w4d1 today. I wanted to do it yesterday, but I took a rest day. I haven't had one in 2 months and my body was telling me I needed one. Today was great, I had no problems running the 3 minutes or the 4, but I did struggle a bit for the 5 towards the end. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical afterward. I did it inside on the treadmill today as we had a big storm come through right before my workout started. I don't like the treadmill as much, but I will be doing it on the treadmill once the shorter days and winter weather is here. Plus I have no desire to run while the hunters and off shooting their guns. Then I always lift weights on the alternate days, but I also walk, bike ride, use the water rower and elliptical. Week 5 is kind of scaring me.0

I remember that too!!! I'm doing WK5D2 tonight and saw that run next - yikes!!! I can't wait! I saw someone's quote the other day on here as their profile picture.
"Your legs are not giving out.
Your head is giving up.
Keep going."
What a great quote!!!!0 -
I start week 5 tomorrow. Really enjoying it so far0
-
I did Week 1, Day 1 on Monday, so tonight I'm doing Week 1, Day 2! Hoping to sign up for a Color Run as my first 5K in early 2014! I figure I'm committed to training for a race, so no excuses! I do need some better shoes as well, but I'm going to try to tough it out on into at least Week 3 before splurging on some...kind of a reward:-)0
