Hi! I am new to this and was wondering . . . what happens if I go over my daily calorie allowance? Will I still lose weight if I deduct that amount from the next day or will that number be deducted or .....? Thanks for the help in advance!

It's all a continuum. Just get back on the horse and shave a few calories here and there to make up for it if you can't find the time to exercise off the cheat day. And if you don't? Don't beat yourself up. Just keep meeting your goals afterwards.

Yep, I agree with YAYjules. Shake it off, and move ON!

My secret, get in a couple mins of cardio at night if I go too overboard.

And another thing I TRY is sometimes getting started in the a.m. is helpful because it give you a couple extra calories to mess with in the day. :)

We're all there, that's why we're here! Just keep going!

No one is perfect. Some days I'm a little over, some a little under. Just try again tomorrow and don't give up just because you didn't hit the exact number.

To not lose weight you'd have to have completely wrecked your built in deficit. If you're set to lose 2 lbs that would be 7000 calories over in one day. 1 lb would be 3500 calories over in one day. etc... Don't worry about going over a little bit.

One day does not make any difference in the long run. Also, as already said, it takes an extra 3500 to gain a pound. What you went over is probably no more than if you'd eaten at maintenance for the day. Forget about it and go back to your goals tomorrow.:flowerforyou:

You instantly gain all the weight back as soon as you wake up the next day :O

Look at your weekly deficit instead of daily.
    If you're over 1000 today and under a total of 4500 the next 6 days;
4500-1000=3500 under, then you'd still lose a pound.
It's all about creating a deficit over time + patience.
    You got this!

nothing will happen, weight loss or gain happens over the course of a week for what you have just eaten. you'll get some instant weight gain in the form of water and digesting food but if you went a whole week going over your goal at the end of the week you'd see a sudden gain in weight, or conversly if you went under by alot at the end of the week overnight suddenly you've lost a heap of weight regardless of what you did the day b4

on each day weight gain or loss has little to do with the previous day, it's what you have been doing the previous 6 days that amounted to your weight for today.

You should be fine. But just want to put this out there weight loss in not a science sometimes things happen a little differently then they should but that's okay. Just don't focus on the numbers to much but more of a guide. Best of luck to you!

Make up for it in the next day, or days... if you went a little bit over, you can take it off tomorrow. If it was a lot you may want to split throughout a few days.

Wish we could 'bank' calories.. or roll over the ones we didn't eat the day before! lol. Then we could 'afford' a cheat day. But I'd never loose a pound if I did that!

You could look at the week totals and work on evening those out.
  • I'm usually BELOW my calorie count, by between 100-400 daily. However that's after exercise and the app only yells at me when In eat under 1200 calories.

Looking at the calorie limit in black and white is just going to make you lose your mind. Don't worry about it, as long as you're not comsuming TOO much more than like 100 or so.

It's what you do over time, not what you do in one day.

I'm usually below mine and it never yells at me. I wonder why.

Agree. My doc says we can do that indeed.

If you go over, stop while you're ahead. I mean, it not perfect advice, if it was that easy to follow we'd all hit our goal everyday! But I know so many people who will say 'Oh, I already messed up my diet for today, so I'll have a second helping of the thing that made me go over and get back on it tomorrow... or the next day...or week.'
On the other hand, don't beat yourself if you do go over. You can't change the past by stressing over what you did or didn't do (I know, I've tried). Just get back on that horse!
