Do break days help any?

Has anyone noticed any difference in weight or inches if they take a break day or two from constant, intense exercise? I'm not sayin' going hog wild but taking it slow.

If you don't feel the need to have at least 1 rest day during the week from exercise then you're doing it wrong.

It helps me recharge and always fill more energetic after I take a couple of days off, which is ~ every 2 weeks.
  • I find one rest day a week motivates me to start back in the gym the next day. Knowing that a rest day is coming often encourages me to work harder the day before and after the rest day.

    Not in weight or inches...

But taking breaks helps me recover so I can have more energy at my workout days what means I can work harder and burn more cals than if I would not take a brake. So it's a good thing. Also helps to keep you injury free by giving your body time to heal.

If weight training to failure, you need the rest days to help your muscles to recover.
  • So it's more of a recharge thing. How do you maintain your calorie goal even on a day off?

I do TDEE- so I eat the same amount of calories every day, regardless whether I exercised or not. I did not gain anything the days I did not exercise. The muscles need time down to repair.

I take a break day every Sunday. My body needs the day recovery. I'm still losing.
