Anyone else on 1 sweet a day?

Every day I have a treat. Whether its 2 custard creams, some cake, a timeout, 6 chunks of cadburies, etc etc.

Does anyone else do this almost daily? I started off with no sweets for 2 weeks and just became a MONSTER to be around! lol Now I count it into my daily cals and haven't went like a month without a daily sweet or bad food. Weight loss is still happening at the same rate.

I know its an awful habit but I have tried so many restrictive diets and have always found the sugar deprivation is what killed it so early in the game. I think I'll always have a VERY sweet tooth!

Anyone else?

If it fits in my calorie goals, and I'm looking pretty smoking with my macros, heck yeah I do. Ice cream every night! I have not binged once since I started in June, because I don't restrict myself. I fit it into my goals and I am a happy camper.

The last thing I have to eat everyday is a piece of Dove dark chocolate caramel with sea salt.
It is my reward to myself for staying within my calorie allotment for the day.
1piece is just under 40 calories.

    I don't. I just do fruits.

I really want a cake or chocolate but they don't give anything good to my body. Fruits do.

This way I've changed my habits. I don't get crazy starvation for cakes or chocolate or macaroons.

I go through phases where I have no treats at all and then do a cheat meal at the weekend, and I also go through phases where I have a little treat every day or every other day. Today I had some choc chip oat biscuits and a small scoop of ice cream. My meals are healthy and I very rarely go ver my calories, and I workout a lot, so I'm not too concerned.

I have a major sweet addiction. The only bad way that it is affecting my WL journey is that sometimes when I overeat the sweets I give up on the whole day. I'm still working on this though. :ohwell:

Yea i'm kind of like this i go through phases, sometimes ill have a treat every day and sometimes it just happens at the weekend when out at cinema or something like that, in saying that though the biggest thing i learned on mfp is this is a lifestyle change not a diet, when i first joined here i had the mentality i was going to loose this much weight and cut out sweet stuff for two weeks - completely restricted myself, i finally learned by not doing this i actually began to loose weight and learn about the benefits of eating healthy but also enjoying treats in moderation. :)
These days im leaning a bit more towards the 80/20 approach, 80% whole, nutrious foods where possible and 20% for treats that fit into my macros, this is more because i'm working on body comp...either way there is nothing wrong with 1 sweet a day or more than one as long as it fits your goals and you loose weight in the long run, don't deprive yourself :).

I just finished an ice cream pop. I have some kind of sweet most days, usually 100 calories, sometimes a bit more if I have extra calories left and I'm just not very hungry. Today I was already in the red for carbs but it was mostly from veggies or beans, so I'm just not worried about it... I still have 200 calories left too.

I haven't binged once in over 7 months, so it must be working.

I'm learning to eat well and give my body the nutrients it needs. But I'm not giving up my sweets. If I did, I know I would just be "dieting" instead of creating the new lifestyle I want. Instead of eating however much I want, I now eat one serving of the sweet and then move on. I'm satisfied, happy and loosing weight.

I eat ice cream every night! Tonight it's Red Velvet Cake :) I'd hate to think of a world without sweets.
  • I'm the same way. I trerat myself with something sweet daily. In order for me to stick with the cut back of calories, I have to have something sweet. And I also, still drop weight..

When that craving hits (and it does) I have a gin gin. Only 20 calories but a flavor explosion, love em.

I don't see anything judgey in her post. Or anything about starving herself.

There is such a backlash around here against the idea of restriction that any hint that someone has chosen to stop eating X food seems to be taken by others as a personal attack. What's up with that?

I eat sweets every day - sometimes a couple tootsie rolls - sometimes a big bowl of ice cream. I make sure I have the calories available (I have only gone over once since I started MFP a few weeks ago...and that was while on vacation at brother's house...every meal at a restaurant). Now that I am logging everything, I do not binge on the foods. I used to eat a whole very large bag of M&M's before with regular soda...not caring - or realizing - how many calories I was consuming. Now I just stay within my goals.

I wish I could but if I eat sugar my hunger goes through the roof and I'm hungry all day long. So I will make a shake with lowfat milk fruit and stevia to sweeten it and I'm really happy. Not every day just when I want something sweet. I don't feel deprived and I don't have that gnawing hunger sugar causes.

Certainly do! Chocolate chip cookies (I found a recipe to make soft ones, om nom!), ice cream (Skinny Cow cups are da bomb!), the occasional Mars bar, muffins, DQ sundaes or blizzards on date night (or cheesecake!). And of course, my hot chocolate infused coffees in the morning and evening. And I've lost over 40lbs since March, so it hasn't really damaged me. If it fits my calories and I haven't gone soaring over sugar or fat, I'll eat something sweet! I tried limiting sweets for a while, but it stunk. Summers are too hot to go without ice cream and I love to bake. I'm just far more conscious about portion control now, lol

I have something sweet most nights, usually a semi-decadent iced coffee. And I never have a mall day without a mini Chocolate Xtreme Blizzard.

I have a square of chocolate every day, as well as other "natural" sweets (celery and PB or a handful of almonds and dark chocolate chips do wonders for sweet cravings!) and I rarely feel the need to go crazy when faced with other less healthy sweets and temptations. I definitely believe in giving in to little sweets in moderation rather than losing it and feeling regretful after

I think you will find that this is quite common.

On most days I have 1, and on a few days, I have several.

If it fits in your calories/macros, do it. I leave room sometimes for a sweet treat (icecream, little bit of chocolate, biscuits/cookies). There's not point depriving yourself of it, learn how to eat this stuff in moderation and the changes you make while you're losing weight (or doing whatever your goal is) will become habits for a lifetime.
