New and looking for advise on daily cal goal

Hello everybody!!

I'm new to MFP and new to dieting altogether. I wanted to say hi and ask a question,. My doctor wants me on a 2,000 calories a day diet because my cholesterol and glucose are thru the roof, plus I'm a little overweight , what should I input as my Net Calories Consumed / Day goal? I'm a little confuse about that, I don't know if that number should be 2,000 or 1,700 since I'm currently burning around 300 calories a day exercising? Do I even make sense? LOL

Thanks!

Stick with what your doctor says. Aim for around 2000, especially since your doc is watching your glucose. Ignore the calories burned amount. Your body typically uses around 2000 cal just for daily function which is why they say an adult healthy amount is 2000 cal per day. Anything burned extra is a bonus you can apply to your weightloss goals. If you eat an extra 300 calories then forgive yourself and move on- but I would definitely stick your doctors advice.

As you lose weight he should start to reduce your caloric goal. Heavier people need more calories to perform their daily biological functions. As your body becomes more efficient it will start to run on less because it wastes less energy.

Your board should have readings also for fibre, fat, protein, sugar, etc. Keep a very close eye on the sugar measure and try to stay away from going too much above that mark. Increasing your veggies and watching your sweets and fruit will help.

    Good luck!

I'd ask your doctor whether the 2000 calories includes what you burn from working out. We can make educated guesses here, but we don't have your medical history or know your doctor's intentions. Guesses are all we can offer.

try to eliminate all grains and starches, eat as many raw foods as possible. I got my sugar below 100 from 250 in 8 days by eating green smoothies. dropped 30 lbs in 4 months. cholesterol dropped from 240 to 190 in 3 weeks and then to 173 in 3 months. My green smoothie consists on a cup of kale, a cup of spinach, 3 boiled eggs, 4m table spoons of ground flax seed, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and water. it makes 2 servings of about 200 cals each. I drink 1/2 in the am and 1/2 around 3 pm. 6 meals a day and plenty of water.
