Going to the movies and would like to snack on things but shouldn't be too high in sugar, any ideas?

Metcalfe skinny popcorn = 108 calories
But I then ruin it by having 3 scoops of Ben and Jerrys

I'm not really a big fan of popcorn for some reason
  • I buy fruit cups. Or I mix my own trail mix with nuts and raisins. Ommmm. Caramel popcorn is such a massive temptation though. xD[

I had to sit near some guy who ate 3 super crunchy apples (and was moaning??) once. Couldn't change seats because it was packed and people were pretty rude about him and the apples. Also reminded me of TV episode where someone was eating fruit during jury duty... Sex and the City and I think the fruit was a mango, a "fruit you can't even bite into"! Popcorn is also noisy, but usually Im eating it so don't care. Nowwww, well, I have been avoiding movies for the last 6-8 weeks, more or less. Want to go this weekend, and will either eat a meal right before going or bring a Quest bar. Can't bring myself to eat fruit because of the apple guy, sadly :noway:

I'm heading out the movies today actually, planning on taking some strawberries and sugar snap peas.

Last week I was sat next to some dude who ate 3 huge bags of crisps, 2 litres of pop, and he also took his shoes off, it was rough.

I haven't been to the cinema for ages, but I'd just get a big cup of coffee to sip on.

Fruit sounds good....the non-crunchy variety! Or how about rice cakes with peanut butter?

Don't buy anything in the movie theater, either take some thing prepared or buy something in a near by supermarket just before you go in. Definitely any veg sticks or fruit (chopped up will make it feel more snacky and it'll last longer). Air popped popcorn or a low calorie brand. Dips are yummy!

I'd suggest as well trying to get out of the habit of eating something in the cinema as it is just mindless eating really. If I really want something sometime I get an ice lolly like a calipo or mini milk, probably alot of sugar but it's only small and already in a portion.

Why does everyone have to stuff their face at the movie? Eat before or after the movie. Cant you sit still for 90 minutes and watch a movie without having to shove stuff into your cake hole?

I recently took my daughter to see Planes. I sliced up some strawberries, weighed out portions and put them into ziplocs. One for me, one for her. It was a great sneak, nice and sweet. Next time, I'm going to do grapes.

ETA: The movie was during lunch time, which sucked, so the snacks held us over until after the movie.

Plenty of water to sip so you have something to occupy you which isn't food? Dried fruit or rice cakes?

How many people do you know that dont snack in the movies? Everytime I go most of the people have something to munch on. Im going before having dinner so a snack really would be bad considering I had my last big meal at 1 in the afternoon and only eating at 10 again. Thats just how I do it

so if they all jumped off a bridge you would follow? who cares "what everyone else is doing" ....?

    No!

Popcorn and all that is part of the experience. If I'm spending the money to go out for the evening, I'm going to have a treat with my movie. Particularly if it's an ipic theatre, or in imax.

Going to watch Pain & Gain...amped! dried fruit is good but sugar is a bit too much plus with all the chicken I ate today and no MMA class tonight I dont have much calories to play with. might just end up with water or at least a coke zero
