How do you guys eat?

Do you guys measure, weigh, or count everything? Or do you just estimate everything? I've been wondering because I just estimate and it seems to work fine because we use different measure cups at my house often so I can mostly tell how many TBSPs of peanut butter I am using when I make a sandwich.

I use a scale and I measure everything ,right down to mayo and peanut butter...........keeps me honest and dead on !!I even do dry spices.0

scales are a lot more accurate than a 'cup' of something

I just estimate fr the most part,when im cooking dinner sometimes ill measure.... I guess I could start measuring ...do u find it helps and makes you more aware?0

I used to but now I've done it so much I'm pretty good a judging it, occasionally I'll check it to be sure0

Yes, I used to think the chicken breast I ate was 160 calories, I bought a food scale and realised it was 330. It's very eye opening and I find it makes cooking a little more fun!0 -
I stopped using measuring cups for everything but liquids. If you had a scale, you'd notice that that "half cup" serving of cereal was much more than the grams stated in the serving size.0

I try and weigh everything I prepare. Meals out are a best-guess.0

open mouth, insert, chew. Repeat as necessary.

I am sure using a food scale would be best. I probably would do that, but I am "too busy."
I have measured some, but not a lot.
I use bf% first and foremost to check my progress, followed by my clothing and the mirror.
Also, it seems when I am in my "sweet spot" for fat loss, I am just a little bit hungry most of the time....but that's probably just me, I really really like to eat:happy:0 -
I weigh most things. I prep a lot of my food in advance in bulk, weigh it and freeze it in single servings. It makes my workweek go a lot smoother.
Peanut butter is one that I *always* weigh no matter what. The more calorie dense it is, the more important it is to weigh it. But even the calories in baby carrots can add up fast.0 -
It depends. Higher calorie value foods I weigh (meat, potatoes, pasta, rice, sauces like mayo), lower cal stuff like veg I estimate as if I'm a bit out it doesnt really have a big impact.0

Ha-Ha guys. I guess I could've titled this better lol. But thanks for the feedback. I will probably weigh any meat that I eat from now on because that's whats hardest to estimate.0

I weigh all of my food on digital scales so Icahn keep it as accurate as possible, when eating out I try to estimate as best as I can, I normally have around 100-200 cals left over most days as I struggle to eat all of my cals (around 2200-2300 on excercise days)0

OK, i do weigh everything. it's been a real eye opener to me and i realized i was way underestimating things.0 -
I've just begun being a little more diligent to measure things. I think I will eventually get a food scale, but I haven't yet. Actually, it was a pleasant surprise to find out that my cereal bowls, which I thought were 4 cups, were only 3, and I've been overestimating how much cereal I've been eating.0

I weigh pretty much everything- sometimes I will measure the things that come in tablespoons but other than that, i weight it all.0

invest in digital scales, i weigh everything, i thought it was a bit excessive at first but it keeps everything 99% accurate and helps keep track of everything, best investment i've made so far0

We have a small scale that I can use, no problem. So i'm not worried about that. People might just be like.... your weighing your chicken?0

I only weigh pasta portions. Everything else I estimate. I don't even like counting the calories, I feel silly.
I do however like the menu planning I keep because of this site. And also I now count my wine glasses. Now that keeps me more honest. Eta: i also now use a measuring cup at home to properly get the correct 5 oz serving of wine. Apparently every glass I used to pour was more like a glass and a half. :-/0 -

I was surprised at what fitness pal estimated a large potato as. After I weighed one, that was the saddest large potato I've ever seen. Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!0

I mostly estimate. And here's why... We all tout the whole "lifestyle change not diet" thing, right? Well I'm sure as hell not going to weigh and measure every morsel of food I put into my body for the rest of my life so I'd much rather learn how to eyeball proper portions. I totally agree that someone just starting out who knows nothing about proper portions should weigh pretty much everything just so they learn but it's not a long term thing. I do weigh things now and then if there's a new food or to make sure my eyeballing is still accurate but for the most part, I figure close enough. I mean, it's not like our daily calorie allotments are 100% accurate either so 50-100 calories either way isn't going to make a huge difference.0

I weigh most things, including the mustard, BBQ sauce, cream cheese, and Peanut Butter. Liquids I use measuring cups or spoons.
By weighing everything and seeing with my own eyes how much a true serving size is it has made it a lot easier for me when I eat out and cant weigh things because now I am pretty good at guestimating servings when I am away from home.0 -
I don't weigh anything other than myself. I rarely measure anything unless following a recipe, but I'm more of a little bit of this, little bit of that type of cook. I've been cooking for a long time though, so I'm pretty good at eyeballing amounts.
