When I've used it, yes, unsweetened works fine. The oil that you're replacing isn't sweet, and apples have plenty of natural sugars without any added.0 -
Sounds yummy -- BUMPing for later0

I will have to try making these one day. I have a slight addiction to sweets so eating these won't make me feel too bad. *lol*0

These sound great but I have one question, in the ingredient listing you do not list oil but in the directions you do list it. So do you or don't you use oil?
Thanks0 -

You can replace oil with applesauce in baking. Applesauce makes the recipe a bit healthier.
I wish there was a way to save favorite posts so I wouldn't lose this one! It'd be helpful with recipes.0 -

Well it says "Pour in öil, vanilla, applesauce and eggs." It does not say "Pour in vanilla, applesauce and eggs." So it seems to me like a small amount of oil must have been required in the original recipe.0

ok am I crazy here...it says to add flour, cocoa, sugar and SALT. But there is no mention of salt in the ingredients! I even looked at the weblink and it says the same thing...anyone have any idea how much you should add, or if you should add it at all? I love brownies!!!!! (I just noticed this about the oil thing too...weird)0

Probably a 1/2 cup oil in the original recipe. You substitute applesauce for the oil, at a 1:1 ratio, to lighten the calories. It just as good, trust me. Ignore the references to oil if you use applesauce.0 -
Can't wait to make these! You are angel for posting this recipe0

Sounds great for those must have chocolate days!0

No wonder it's so low fat - 24 servings in an 8x8" pan? They must be miniscule.0

Another incredible way to make brownies is with a rinsed can of black beans pureed in the food processor with 1/4 of water and a tsp. of instant coffee and a tsp of vanilla added to one box of brownie mix....thats it, four ingredients. My teenage boys love them so I know they don't taste 'diet'. Plus the beans don't add any sugar and they do add fiber!:noway:0
