Last day of 30DS today - all set for Ripped in 30 tomorrow!
Watched it through today, quite relieved to see some familiar moves in there.
Is everyone going to be taking a rest day? I know it says we should but having done a daily workout for 30 days it will feel weird to skip a day.

I'm in to start tomorrow. I finished 30ds a couple weeks ago and did a couple days of RI30 but didn't really have the motivation to stick with it. I think two things kept me pressing play on 30ds: 1) It was a goal of mine to finally get through it since I had tried several times before and bailed, 2) I started it with a thread of people here on MFP and the knowledge that other people were going through it with me as well as being able to share my thoughts and advice was really good motivation.

So long story short, I'm in for Jillian tomorrow!

I just started day 2 of 30DS, but for those of you wondering, I wore a HRM today, and it gave me 274 Cal burned for 29:08 mins. I am 5'3" and 179 lbs (also very much out of shape). I'm sure everyone burns differently, but I hope that helps someone. :)

I am going to keep following this thread, because when I finish (and I WILL finish) 30DS, I'm planning to move on to RI30.

    Good luck, everyone!

Edit: Polar FT7 HRM and day 2 of phase 1 for 30DS. :)

Wouldn't you know... our DVD player bit the dust this week! Have just put a new beauty above the tele, so am ready for tomorrow! I've got a wedding to attend next month and I think it's given me extra vigor for exercise ;)

Excited for everyone to be starting this together over the weekend!

I looked back at my 30DS burn from June when I did it and for that 30 minutes each night I averaged around 120. I am 5'4 and was around 160 at the time. Not in shape by any means but not totally out of shape. I will be checking the RI 30 burn with my HRM too. everyone is different for sure - the key would be not to eat back all the calories if you think there is any chance you are overestimating the burn We have a great group started here and we all want it to be successful for ourselves as well as everyone. else.

the group will hold us accountable and keep us motivated as we succeed and struggle together.

I am trying something new in the am too - my own duathalon. going to ride my bike a 5K(nothing) and then running back.. A 5K is difficult for me but since starting to try in may I can run about 60% or better now.

So, D1, W1 done! Not too bad at all - though it might take a couple of days to get used to some of the moves (no coordination at all!).

I'm logging it as Aerobics, high intensity, 20 mins - it comes up with 150 cals. I worked it out using a formula as well but the MFP number was nearly the same so I'm happy to use that.

Good luck to everyone starting today - hope it's a good one!

    I'm in!

And with that, I'm off to get in my workout before the rest of my household wakes up.

Hey everyone - it's nice to see so many new faces! :)

I just completed Day 2 of Week 1. I had a bit of extra time yesterday so I went ahead and started my first day.

Even while doing the advanced moves I found this week to be a little easy to be honest although I did get my heart rate up at times and I was sweating.

I used 5 and 8 lb handweights, but I had to go heavier on the 2nd Circuit where I used 12 lbs. I need to work on my advanced Side Planks with a Pulse. I got halfway through before starting to lose my form and needing to go down to the modified version. However I'm very proud of myself because this time last year I couldn't hold a regular elbow plank for 10 seconds, let alone doing a push up on my toes.

I'm not following the meal plan, but I am eating at maintenance.

My goal this week is to get through the entire Side Planks at the advanced level and to put more power in the skaters and hops.

I need to focus on my lower body using heavy weights tomorrow so I will not be doing Ripped in 30, but I'll post again on Tuesday.

    Good luck!

I'd like to join. Just got ripped in 30
  • Can I join? I'm just about to start level 3, so 2 weeks in! I'm 3lbs and 1" in waist and hips down so far! Level 3 tomorrow, wish me luck!
PS for those starting, level 1 is do-able, level 2 has some killers, but mostly ok! Happy Ripping! X

    Hello again!

I'm relatively new to the forums so can someone tell me what being in a group means? Is it different to posting here?

Just finished day one of level one on 9/1 of Ripped in 30! This id going to be great - I am pretty pumped to have so many of you that responded to the challenge.

I don't know how groups work. MamaBear started one for us so hopefully she will explain how they work. I normally just follow the challenge along on the post but maybe a group is easier to follow-we will learn.

213 calorie burn for my day 1 level 1 based on my Polar. I just added an exercise but not sure that it is available to all, you may have to add your own. that was about 38 minutes from warm up through cool down till may heartrate got somewhere back in the normal range.

    Go get em!

Congratulations on Grad School!! I am also a Graduate Student (2nd year)....Piece of advise - MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT - which in this case includes working out/exercise. Very important for self-care and staying motivated throughout the journey of Graduate Studies. All the best!

W1 D2 - found it a little bit easier today - didn't get quite so tangled up swinging the weight around my head!

Had slightly sore knees yesterday so added some knee circles to the warm up to see if that helps. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to spend most of the rest of the day at my desk typing. I suspect that will lead to stiffness. Ah well, no point moaning about it!

    Good luck everyone, keep going!
