I have lost a decent amount of weight since summer started, and I have a lot of baggier dress shirts that I wear for work. I am getting really annoyed because when the shirt is tucked in in the front, it looks fine but then the back flares out and makes me look a lot heavier than I am. I am unsure if I can do anything to temporarily fix it / alter it.

Can I do something to remove the flaring from the back of my dress shirt or should I just go buy new clothes?

Depends on the style of shirt. If it has a darted or pleated back there isn't much you can do yourself (unless you want to learn the finer points of tailoring), but a straight back you can take in at the side seams yourself pretty easily. You can also go find a tailor/seamstress to measure and take them in for you.

I haven't tucked in a shirt in well over a decade. Can you not just tuck the shirt in further? If not, you may just need to purchase more clothes for work. But, hey, congrats on the weight loss.

its annoying because if I tuck in the shirt normally - the sides are all puffed out, I have to tuck them back and push the back in. The front will be tucked in but no matter what I do the back flares out and theres a huge gap between where my back is and where the shirt is poked out lol

I am with JEN, I have not tucked in a shirt in two decades. Congratulations!

Take one to a tailor and find out how much it would cost to alter it to fit. If it's cheaper than buying a new shirt you can have them all altered. If not, you could buy two or three new shirts in your new size and just rotate them.

I'm in the same situation, Vanity sizing catering to the average person being overweight means most clothing in the U.S. is a lot baggier than it used to be. You need to look for tapered shirts and clothing marked "thin" to fit a normal build. Most regular fits are what used to be called relaxed fit and relaxed fit is more like husky or chunky. Truly thin people have to go for "Skinny fit " since "thin" is still too loose for them. I hate shopping for clothes since everything in the same size fits differently. When I do find something that fits perfectly, I buy a few of them while I can.

If your shirts are really good quality and fit well everywhere else, you could look for someone who does tailoring and ask what it would cost to put some darts in and taper them to fit perfectly. If that's not an option, you might need to try some higher end Men's Clothing stores since the big discount places seem to carry mostly shirts with the bottoms as wide as the shoulders as a one size fits all solution.

See, Hulk knows what's up. You just tear the *kitten* out of all your shirts and you no longer have an excuse to not buy new ones. Deep down you know the right answer.

Time to switch to the slim-fit line. Congrats bro, you've earned it.

this isn't a sarcastic question but do slim fits go better with skinny ties or regular? because at this point all i have are regular michael kors and express ties

I had the same problem... And I had this problem numerous times. I simply bought cheap clothes to last until i got out of that size. Then when I got to my goal weight, I bought nicer clothes that fit properly. Unless you take them to a taylor, I don't think there is much you can do, or at least I never found anything that worked.
Best of luck and congrats on your progress man!!!
