How to deal with injury when I'm trying to lose weight!

Hello Everyone! I am a month and 1 week into my new lifestyle change and I hurt myself 2 days ago, falling and landing on a brick around my front beds with my left arm landing on it, with hand straight down on it! . I went to ER and x-rays showed that I have a Compression Fracture in my left arm. Now the question is, Im still sticking to my calories count but worried because I haven't been able to workout in 2 days now. I really want to go to my Team weightless class that I am in tomorrow morning. I figured I could still walk on treadmill just not use the hand bells or exercise bands. My friend thinks I shouldn't get on the treadmill because he is afraid that I will lose my balance or something. Im missing being able to work out. What do u think?

There's nothing wrong with walking. You hurt your arm, not your legs! I say, go for it. Just maybe take it a little easy?

Maintain a calorie deficit and you'll keep losing weight, with or without the exercise.

Ask your doctor what you should do for activity with your fracture.

You have to do what you feel is right. If you feel you can walk on a treadmill! Go for it! Go for a walk, walk the dog, whatever you think you can do, just do!

Also, I will say this. Exercise is a very important to overall health and weight loss, but diet is much more important to lose weight. Both are important but as long as you are eating right during this time, you'll be okay, even if you don't work out.

    Hope that arm heals soon!

You can consume more calories and continue to lose weight if you continue to exercise. If a treadmill does not seem "safe" at the moment, walk on a track, or just around the block. Do what you can and don't worry about what you currently cannot do. If you don't feel up to exercising, cut calories accordingly (or if you use the MFP approach, assume you won't have calories to eat back in a day)

When I first started I hurt my knee at about 6 weeks in. I was to find out that this was going to be a recurring injury. I kept re-injuring this knee over and over. It didn't heal until I stayed off of it for a full two weeks. I was able to ride the bike at the gym without it hurting at all because it was a no impact exercise. During this time, I was very careful with my diet too. I was terrified of backsliding.

You're lucky in the sense that you can still use your legs to work out. I was going insane until I started on the bike. LOL

I would do what you feel stable doing. If the treadmill works for you, start out slow and see how you feel. The recumbent bike may work for you too (if you have one or if you belong to a gym) since you don't have to lean on the handlebars to use it.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I haven't tried driving yet, but Im going to see how I do tomorrow. I may just try a drive in my neighborhood to see if I can, if not back home I go. My arm is sore at elbow that is where the fracture is. Someone suggested swimming.
