Have you ever been so happy you wanted to cry?

I was in a bad place. I was watching my nephew (who no one wanted to watch because of how hard he is and his mom couldn't find a daycare to take him). I have been doing this since last February. I have made between $500 and $750 a month (having him up to 80 hours per week, most of the time it was 70). I literally don't have enough money for food so I had to go on food assistance. I don't have enough money for gas so I can't leave my house (except to walk places where I can't spend money lol). And even if I did make more money, there weren't enough hours in the day for me to have a life without this kid there. Honestly, I think I was getting really depressed. I probably would have looked into medication if it lasted much longer. But I promised her I would watch the kid till he went back to school. Which was two days ago.

Today was my first day of orientation for my new job working as a bank teller. It was only 4 hours today but it got me out of bed and on a schedule (I LOVE schedules). I got out of bed before noon!--don't fret, the kid slept till then too lol--I went to a different city for orientation: I WAS OUT OF THE HOUSE! God, just looking forward, I almost cried. I am so happy that that time in my life is over. I know when my work day ends (I never knew with the kid, she dropped him off between 4-4:30am showed up between 6-9pm, depending on when she got off and traffic). Like I said, I LOVE schedules and it was so bad for me. BUT I know when I'm off and I know how long my shifts are before the week even starts. It's been, what? Seven months since I've had that? It's so foreign to me now!

Anyway, the moral of the story is I was really depressed and now, after one day, I have hope :) I hope you do to!

yay hooray! And never let yourself be the abused babysitter again. 70+ hour weeks and you were making less than 1k a month, terrible. You couldn't hire anyone from care.com for that rate, not ever.

I know it's family, and it's hard to say no to that kind of stuff, but they had no right to take advantage of you like that.

I'm so glad to hear that you're free. Good luck at your new job. I hope it all goes well for you. And now you're going to be too busy to be burdened like that again.

Thanks all :) as silly as it sounds, I feel like I've been let out of prison or something! I danced in my kitchen tonight to my favorite bands for the first time in months and I think I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight :) it truly is amazing what one day can bring!

Happy for you things are looking up.

The times a cried because I was so happy were my wedding day, and the birth of both my kids.

Also........at the ending of the movie Rudy and the first 4 Rocky movies. :)

I'm sure I will cry at the first two as well :)

And I've never seen those movies... I'm not a huge sports person... Were they bad or sad?
