Need support of all kinds...

Hi there guys and gals!

I'm not exactly new to MFP but I AM new to the community! I hope I will be able to make many supportive people along my journey. It's not such a large one I suppose in comparison to some of you, but I have my own difficulties to face.

I am 5'8 and weigh 180 pounds. I'm a junior in college at the prime age of 20 years old.

After randomly gaining 30 pounds during high school (even playing softball) and experiencing extraordinary vertigo, I found out I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. But no, not ONLY hypothyroidism, but also PCOS. Both of these things makes it very hard for me to be just a regular college kid when I eat normally and still gain/never lose anything. I have never been skinny, but I just need to lose these 20 pounds for me. I want to be healthy and maybe later on, I'd also like to be fit. My specialist said I needed to focus a lot more on diet first and then move onto the exercise...because right now it won't do much for me.

All in all, I'm just really hoping to get some support and motivation on her because goodness I need it. I'd love to have friends of all different kinds help me out, whether you are just starting, in between, or have already hit your goal but are still here!

  • Wow, that must be so hard. :( I was really slim in high school, but also had terrible eating habits (I guess it was anorexia, but I ate sometimes so I dunno...)

Anyways, I gained my weight at around 20, some of it when I went off to college at 18. The best thing is to recognize you are doing what you can and eating right, and your issue is not one that can be judged. Look at health primarily. It is discouraging, sure, to see all the skinny people, and I was one but wasn't happy. Just make sure you remember the important things. :D

Add me and we can chat. :D I will send tons of support for you!
