Does Coke Zero Make You Gain Weight?

Options
So I have such a sweet tooth and I am also counting calories. Coke Zero has no calories so I thought it would make a great replacement. I drank about 2 cans today (yes, I know, not good). But I don't have it every day. I just have it when I want to have something sweet.

But will it make you gain weight?
Note: I know soda is bad and I know it contains aspartame. I just want to know if it will make you gain weight.

No - the 'zero' means zero calories. You could drink 1,000 of these and you wouldn't gain a pound. Although you would feel a little bloated, no doubt. :-)

No a 0 calorie product won't make you gain weight (well some water weight maybe), and no it isn't bad for you. Drink as much as you would like. Oh and stop you know something is bad without doing any research on it.

I'm not sure you are serious....but zero calories means you will not gain weight. You might die from it but it won't add pounds.

Has 40mg of sodium per can so you may bloat a bit from the carbonation and the salt in it if you drank a ton of it, but I have at least a can of day and I've been losing.

Nope. I have 3-4 a lot of days and haven't gained a pound. Yes, it isn't the healthiest drink choice, but it is a choice I can live with.

Some people crave sweets after drinking stuff with artificial sweeteners. If your one of these people and ended up eating a bunch of sweets after drinking one, then yes.

Other than that, I don't see any way it can actually make you gain weight. I've been drinking diet sodas (and regular when I have the available calories) since I started counting calories in March. Sometimes I've had 64oz (not exactly healthy I know) in a day. My weight has gone from 218lbs in March to 172lbs this morning. So considering that, no diet soda won't make you gain weight unless of course you fall into the category I listed above.

I can't keep straight from day to day whether coffee is going to kill me. OMG, then there is the egg. One day it is clogging my arteries and the next it is good for me.

In and of itself it won't make you gain weight as it has no calories - but there have been studies that show that artificial sweeteners may actually lead to weight gain, due to the way it interacts with your body:

Amen!! And that is why I have my cups (yes, plural) of coffee everyday and eat my one egg omelet for breakfast. Have a Coke Zero ocassionally as well.

    My completely UNSCIENTIFIC **opinion**...

Even though it has no calories, it leaves me craving something sweet. Drinking it doesn't satisfy that craving, so I go in search of something that will. Which is usually *not* zero calorie.

For me, it's better to skip it.

It may have 0 calories but it turns my appetite on, all the way to HIGH.
So, in this respect, it would help me gain weight.
