help setting net calories

Hello!
Although I've been logging on MFP now for a few months (irregularly) I'd like to really do this more consistently now.
I wondered if someone could explain to me whether the minimum calorie intake of 1200 for a female is before or after exercise?
I have been doing my 10,000 steps and my Fitbit is subtracting about 500 calories a day. I just don't know if I should set my net intake goal to be 1200 or 1700? I would like to lose 2 lbs (or more) a week.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!

The 1200 is before exercise, that's why your Fitbit is giving you the extra calories.

It's before exercise. You should eat the 1700 total.

Depending on how much you have to lose 2 pounds or more a week is really unrealistic, it can be done but it's not the route you want to go. At two pounds a week more than half of it is going to be lean muscle tissue. And even if your not interested in gaining more muscle you sure as hell don't want to lose what you have already. Shoot for one pound a week and just give it time.
