HIgh Protein Low Carb ... HELP.

I've recently begun my weight loss journey for the 3rd time .. but I'm now armed with new medical information that can make this much easier. I've been advised to eat a high protein diet with low carb intake. Due to side effects of a medication I'm on I have to eat minimal fruits. Everything I look for includes a whole lot of berries.
Does anyone have any tips for breakfast, lunch & dinner that I could start incorporating into my new lifestyle?

Hi
This is the plan my personal trainer gave me. He has a major thing against carbs so its fairly low, I know the calories are a bit on the low side at about 1000 calories a day depending on the meat but I guess you can up the protein as required.
I found I lost quite well on it for the week I did it for although I'm sure most of that was water. I cheated at the weekend so I'm having to start again.... No will power
Breakfast
35g porridge oats
10g almonds
10g fruit ( I have raisins)
100ml skimmed milk or rice milk
OR
2 eggs
10g almonds
Snack
100g cottage cheese
10 g almond
Lunch
100g of lean white meat or fish ( prawns, turkey, salmon, chicken, white fish)
As much salad/vegetables as you like
Snack
100g cottage cheese
Dinner
Same as lunch in choices
Training days
50g fruit
protein shake
Non- training days
protein shake is still hungry in evening
3 litres of water0 -
Wow ... Thank you for that Jenny. This should help me out a lot. I'll print a copy for my records and incorporate this.0

Your personal trainer gave you that list of food to eat? Wow, I would find another personal trainer..
As for high protein/low carb.. there are wraps you can buy that are low carb for lunch items (incorporate chicken salad or something that is lower on the mayo and more chicken or lunch meat if sodium doesn't matter in a wrap)
There are a few snacks to buy that are low carb.. quest bars are low in carbs (if dietary fiber doesn't matter for your meds) that are high in protein.
Just look at it as meat items or eggs in the morning, followed by a protein item for every meal.. try to limit the fruit (which sucks but they are high in carbs) and certain veggies..0 -
For meals try to eat more meat, non starchy vegetables, eggs, and other stuff like that. Good snacks would be greek yogurt, jerky, nuts/nut butters, vegetables with ranch or hummus, seaweed, and cheese.0

^^ this
I recently was put on a high protein, moderate carb eating plan from my doc/dietician.
Breakfast ideas:
English muffin /w peanutbutter
Egg white omelet filled with veggies - maybe add a lean ham
Greek Yogurt with a fruit as a side: (Melons, grapefruit, grapes, orange, cherries, mixed berries)
Fruit smoothies (I think some people add protein powder to these-not sure how that would taste).
Or try Kefir--high in protein.
I recently saw a recipe for 2 eggs and a banana-mix the three until well blended and create pancakes with that mixture.
Lunch: large salad with veggies and a protein as a side (chicken sausage, chicken breast, tuna, left over meat from the night before)---can be added to the salad as well.
Dinner- varies for meat types - pending what we have on hand.
Not sure if that helps at all but this is some of what I've been using.0 -

Why? I know its restrictive in the form its in but it was designed that way as I needed a shock to my metabolic system to get things going and I retain water like nobodies business, but it seems healthy enough to me. All major food groups are covered and an abundance of healthy vegetables are incorporated.
I'm not being sarcastic I am genuinely interested in why you think this isn't a good plan for high protein/low carb.0
